Happy New Year to all. I just burned all the Christmas cardboard and threw on a couple of oak logs. They didn't even want to go...

I'm about 3 minutes from firing up the grill for the pork loins. I have a one stuffed with bacon, brown sugar, apples, garlic, a sweet mesquite rub, and some salt/pepper.

Another one marinating in a pineapple mixture that April made up. They both smell fantastic and we haven't even put them on the grill yet!!

Mmmm. They were very good. It was tough to keep the temps up on the grill though.

Actually Gophergunner New Years Eve is usually pretty quiet unless it falls where there is a long weekend. Lord knows I hate the long weekends. The slackjawed slobbering fools that I deal with on a daily basis can't stand family togetherness for a 3 or 4 day stretch without trying to either kill each other or stealing something to pawn so they can get more booze or drugs. See you later it is time to head home and watch a little girl go sledding. THis is the last full day before they go back to San Diego and it has snowed for the past couple of hours.

Yep, once the temps drop into the teens seems like the cooking time doubles with a gas grill.

Looks like we're going to be flirting with 30* below next Monday and Tuesday. Highs Tuesday are predicted to be minus 16*. Hate to think what Dave is going to be faced with.

Buschpilot and I are in the same county, his morning drive might have been a little later in the morning that mine.

I saw -35 in the buick this morning, I'm certain it dipped to -40 as the sun came up.

Supposedly we will be treated to temps in the teens ABOVE zero tomorrow.

Fingers crossed.

This has certainly been the coldest winter we've had so in a long time and there's a lot more winter to go yet.

There sure is Bill. I'm hoping we get the cold out of the way so it warms up in January-April. Wishful thinking I guess.

So far we don't have a bunch of snow down here, but man is there a bunch up north. The deer at my dad's place were already eating the Blue Spruce branches from trees in his yard. The deer did look health so far though. They havea trail system between his house and the neighbors and they're wandering around pretty much all day.

Anybody going to the gun show this weekend? It's in Brooklyn Park or Brooklyn Center I believe.

Looks like a white out is on the way for Northern half of MN. They have blizzard warnings out for ND and MN for later today and Saturday.

Sounds like it is gonna get even worse Sat-Tues. Be careful folks, a small mistake at -35 degrees turns into broken parts really fast!

A lady at work yesterday really put this time of year into perspective. She said, "our next day off is Memorial Day"! eek
