still searching for my 35 whelen lol

was about to get me a TC when a buddy suggested the Apex...he said they are way more accurate since they have the Bergara barrels on them already ...also 150 bucks cheaper and comes with scope mounts and a Quake sling

i know in the past CVA had some issues but from what ive researched they are now putting out quality stuff

also im sure a recoil pad would be suggested for this caliber..ive never shot anything over a 270 so i dont know how much recoil im getting into..ive heard different stories on this gun from "it aint bad at all" to " itll knock your teeth out"....i figure a limbsaver pad or kick-eeze would surely help tame it good enough? any thoughts on that as well?

hey killindeer i have a t/c encore in .35 whelen since here in mississippi its a legal caliber for "primitive weapon season". not much primitive about a rifle with will whoot a 225 bullet as flat as a 30-06 will shoot a 180 out to 300 and packs more whallop to boot. but, whatever as i do like it and its pretty accurate with nosler custom ammo loaded with 225 grain accubonds. it will put the first 2 bullets from a cold barrel into .5" then the 3rd will be 1" away. i guess when the barrel gets a little warm it will walk them a little. i can't give any info on the cva. if you do get the t/c get the store to go ahead and install a heavier hammer spring in it to prevent misfires.
good luck,

I had both rifles in the muzzleloader config. I am kicking myself over selling the Apex..It has better ergonomics, trigger but is heavier. CVA issues are well in the past. Yo won't have to play with the hammer spring, adjusting headspace etc etc. It will just shoot and very well.

killindeer,

I see that that they have 35 whelen barrels for the encore here www.eabco.com/barels01.html

I have both 30-06 and 50 cal m/l barrels for my encore and don't find the recoil to be a problem with the rynite stock. BTW my 35 whelen is a remington 7600. tom

The "flex-tec" stock and a limbsaver pad made my 45-7 feel more like my 308 bolt gun, if you are recoil sensitive thats the way to go.

I own both, the Apex and Encore. I have to say the Apex has much better lines and If I were to have to choose one, it would be the one...

Mike Bellm is pretty much the authority on T/C Encores and he prefers the Apex.

I would avoid anything made in Spain. T/C all the way.
