I woud really like to get a Brockman's Pop-up Peep but unfortunaetly they don't ship to Canada. Does anyone use a Talley Peep Sight? Is it quick detach, or more of a permanent sight?

Thanks, Gord

Gord,
I don't have first hand knowledge, but got this from someone who did have the Brockman pop-up peep on his M70. From what I was told and have seen in pictures, the Brockman is identical in most respects to the rear BASE for Talley rings. The Talley bases work with both the quick detach type rings as well as with the other rings that are not quick detachable (they use screws instead of a lever). When you remove the scope (with the rings attached) the peep sight pops up from the base. The base is held in place with the normal two screws that secures any conventional base. Hope that helps you some.

The Talley is a QD unit with a finely serrated "knob" that is hand tightened to secure the base. There is no groove to allow the use of a screwdriver. At least that is how mine is. You will need to have your base modified to accept the peep sight.

EdM, just so I'm sure how it works, if I was using these as backup sights for my scope I would have to remove my scope and then mount this sight to the rear base? It isn't mounted along with the scope, correct?

Thanks, Gord

Gord,
You asked about Brockmans, so here are a couple pics of their Talley base/peep set up. One shows what the base and peep look like without the scope and the other shows it with the scope mounted. Once the scope is removed, the peep pops up into place. You don't have to attach anything else once the scope is removed. You can also see in the second photo what I was talking about with the quick detach ring with the lever that attaches to the dovetailed base.

Yeah, I would prefer the Brockmans, however I can't find anyone who sells them that will ship to Canada.
