Last day of MN muzzle loader. It's been a horrible season as far as deer numbers, rifle through muzzle loader. Very few deer sightings and zero shot opportunities. We got snow Friday night into Saturday morning that totaled up to a 5 to 8 inch range in the forest. I walked a couple of miles mid day yesterday and didn't see a single set of deer tracks. I did see some fresh tracks this morning while walking out to my deer stand. I'm afraid if I do see something this morning it will be a doe and a fawn and I don't think I can do it, seeing how low the deer population is. I'm glad to be out in the forest with fresh snow though, at least it finally feels like deer hunting. It's been a strange season, warm temps for the most part.
Missy shot an absolute tank of a deer yesterday afternoon at her deer camp with her fiance. He's a straight Y beamed 10 that's probably 7" past the ears. Im pretty sure her face will be stuck I'm smile mode for months!

Same for here Dave. Looking back, I think this is the first year I've ever been skunked. A mix of hardwoods, river bottom and farmland and very few deer sightings. Like 3. A young weird looking buck with a fork on one side and a tall spike on the other and a doe and a fawn.
This is the first I've heard that Missy got a good one.
I went and checked it out on FB. That is a nice buck.

Little brother picking him up from the processor. 80lbs of trimmings. Butcher figures he was 230 lbs - dressed.
] That's a damn big buck! And plenty of meat sticks from that sucker.

This is a great thread. Lots to sift through here. Just bought 60 acres in Maine for my own little deer camp.

So, so many cool memories & "characters" ! Speaking of camps what do you think of your place now that you have a few seasons under your belt on it?

Really love it Tom !! This season, we went 3/3 deer for the first time, in the 4 seasons we've been there. Hard to beat hunting from home & also being able to be on Eagle lake, or ice in less than 5 minutes !
