Yeah, that's a damn good idea! I think I might be putting a little extra load on these now that I have the posi differential in that front axle.

I actually think now that I might have been slipping in the lockouts for a long time and it may be what took out the spider pin in the open differential case.

Know what I mean? If I was slipping one side then all the rotetion would have went to that slipping axle, really would have spun the hell out of those spider gears.

Anyways, we'll see how it goes.

The guts on these new ones look strong, it's just the outer cap and the switch that's maybe... light duty. I'm like you and not a big fan of plastic, especially in cold temps.

The outer cap body is steel but the switch of course is plastic.

Yeah I know...




But have you seen the boat??

i'm sure that the posi axel puts way more preasure on the hubes.

I like the standard Warne's better than the Mile Marker, even the premium Mm's. You made a fine choice, IMO.

The mile markers seem cheap to me. Maybe different now, it's been about 10 years since I needed to put some in.

I need some on the 78 at some point before fall.

One of your coworkers has a set of like new MM lock-outs like you were looking for in his shop plus some used Warns. Coulda just had them.

We got r done, pics and wordage tomorrow.

All is well with things that smash snow on frozen lakes and little houses that keep fisherman warm and safe on said frozen lakes.

We arrived at the lake and traveled out about 17 miles from shore on a resort plowed lake road to where we could see CBF's fish house. His house was a half mile off of the lake road with his "driveway" plugged with drifted snow.



The old plow truck chipped away at a trail, smashing away with an average of a 20 foot push at a time in order to clear a narrow path to the broken fish house. Then the ole truck made several widening passes with the blade angled to wing the snow out.





The boys began work on the skid that had came off the house during efforts to move the house several weeks ago. One skid ripped off the house completely and the nose with the hook point busted off the other skid.





We built these steel brackets and hook loops in my shop Friday night with the idea that we would drill through the timbers (skids) and use through bolts to attach them.

It all worked really well, it just took a little time.

Chainsaw was used to cut new ski toes on the lead edge of the skids and also to cut a 2X10 brace for inbetween the leading edge of the skids.



Here we had cut the new ski toe on the other side of the house and we were drilling to install the new tow hoop.



Pounding the support into place between the ski toes which holds them from ripping loose and coming in towards eachother while pulling on the tow hoops.



Here we were positioning for a double truck tug on the heavy fish house. We wanted a strong pull but we also wanted to avoid a slamming jerk which could quickly destroy all the work we had just done.



Prior to the initial pull we had jacked the house up and laid a small block under both skids. This reduced the surface contact between the rough timber skid and the ice/snow. It makes it easier to get that initial movement started.

The boy kept steady pressure on the house with his white truck and I gave a little tug with the plow truck to help initiate the 17 mile slide

The old inside joke "You're coming with me, fish house!" was muttered a few times about now.



And away we go.

The house was moved in many miles closer to shore, I helped the boys get the house set up off the main lake road so they had a nice straighy shot back onto the road. They spent the night out there last night. Me, Pam and little PWM made the 75 mile drive home in the old snow bully. We met Weezy at home and we all went out for a burger.

RWS sent me this phone picture this morning of a 25 incher he got this morning.

If only someone had a SV252.......
