What could be a sadder way to end a life than to die having never hunted with great dogs, good friends and your family?

I have a Hardy Demon, this reel is great. They come with two spare "Spools". I just saw the other day that the 3,4,5wt is on sale at Backcountry for 40% off. You can't beat this reel. Wish I would have paid this price. Thinking about getting another one now. Link is below

For a 5 weight rod rarely will a drag be needed. Here is a great reel and a great price from a relatively new company. http://www.allenflyfishing.com/trout-ii-reel-series/

I agree on the Konic, a lot of reel for the dollar.

.....another vote for the Konic. Great reel and drag for the $$. I have 3 different sizes and haven't had any issues over 2 years worth of hard fishing. (150+ days each season)

Thanks and have fun, Tom wink

They get great reviews. I was just about to order one of their rods when I stumbled across a one-time special good deal elsewhere.

I've recently bought three new fly reels, and am perfectly happy with all three so far. I have an Okuma, a Cabela's and a no-name import bought from fleabay. All in the $40 to $65 range, and all have smooth drags, wide arbors and ball bearings. For freshwater, I can't imagine needing anything more.

Ross once made fairly good stuff... Their recent junk is not in the same league.

The Vexsis is a perfect example of their recent offerings. The drag is easily changed from LH to RH by sliding a small lever. Only problem is the drag locks up enough that when the spool is turned after the drag is heavily engaged it slides the drag enough to go into free spool mode, neither RH or LH wind.

All Lamson reels have the same guts. If you want better glint buy the next step up, Guru... or as far up as you like...

I would take the Guru for less than half the price of the Vexsis...
