I'm sort of a "go cheap" rifle reloader. I don't own any fancy tools to measure run out. I don't use expensive Redding Dies. I use the cheap Lee Collet Dies. Up until now, I've used nothing but cheap Winchester '06 brass, etc.
So, lately, I've broken down and bought some better brass. Not the very expensive Lapua brass, but Hornady. A quick examination showed it is better made. Squared off case mounths. Nice even looking primer pockets and flash holes.
The rifle is a custom mauser with a very good Pac-Nor barrel. But it's not a heavy contour, but a No.1 with the shoulder reduced to a minimum. It's pretty light too, 7 1/4 lbs. empty. The scope is 6X Leupold with a Heavy Duplex.
I wanted to try both Ramshot Big Game and H4350. Here are the results with new brass passed through the Collet Dies, WLR primers with a COL of 3.31 inches which is a bit more than .010 off the lands.
With Ramshot Big Game, charges from 56-59 grs. the average for 4, 3 shot groups was .95 inches with the smallest, 58 grs., at .55. With H4350 and charges running from 58-61 grs., the average was .96 with the smallest at .67 inches with 61 grs. All of these were shot at 100 yds.
I dunno about anyone else, but this is really impressive to me. Heck, I just shoot over sand bags. No fancy rifle rest for my bench rest shooting. Most impressive to me was the consistancy of the loads. Believe me, they never do that. Typically, most will be 1-2 inches or even more, with only one much under an inch. And sometimes, not even that well. E

My 06 along with H4350 has done very well with the 155 Scenar and the 155 Hybrid and Berger Hunting bullet.

Good speeds and excellent accuracy.

All of Pat's eye-candy photos associated with his use of the Scenar tempted me into giving them a try in a 308 Win in a Zastava commercial 98 action..nothing fancy just a utilitarian rifle with a factory barrel. First load giving Varget a try produced some impressive results and that was it for any load work up. No game yet as the 165 Nos AB gets the call but hopefully soon.

My LH Win. M70 loves the 155gr. Scenar and has accounted for one DRT elk. It's a bullet that fights WAY above it's weight class.

^^^^This prompted me to try them out of my 308. They are averaging .5 MOA @ 200 yards.

I have a shirt tail cuz who runs a 300RUM and the 155 Scenar. I've witnessed two of his kills and got in on the bullet necropsy of another--I thought they did very well.

Longest shot of his was about 250 yeds, shortest about 75 yds.
