I'll keep singing the praises of the 6.5x47 'till the day I leave this mortal life. This weekend I competed in the Utah State Sniper Shoot. Not only did I win the LR Precision Rifle portion of the match but took 1st place overall.

Took home a nice LAR upper and a bunch of the new Barnes Match Burner bullets in .22, 6.5mm and 30 cal.

Congrats Alan!

Alan, been hearing about reamers w/various freebore. Does your rifle(s) shoot 120/123s as well as say 130/139-142s?

Thanks.

Cliff,

My rifle started out with a .108" freebore. Around 800-900 rounds it grew an extra .080" and hasn't grown since. It's got around 1100 plus rounds now. (I also haven't cleaned the barrel since round #300).

I only tested the 123 MK when I was matching it up against the 130 Berger VLD I chose. It shoot nearly as well with Varget.

My best friend shoots a rifle nearly identical to mine and he uses the 123 Scenar and Varget and his groups are much smaller than mine. But then, I'm only a 1/2 MOA shooter. My rifle shoots better than me.

Now, as you recall in my posts above, my "little" Pierce shoots the 140 Berger VLD to 1/2 MOA all day long with Rel 17 and Fed 205M primers.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Alan,

I know what you mean, anything under 1/2 moa starts to become work, conditions have to be ideal, and some days are just not as good as others - for ME.

That does help - thanks sir.

Has anyone taken elk size game? Sounds like it real close to a 270 win. Everyone in my camp shoot them for elk and do fine.

rem06,

Not to hijack the thread, but could you tell me about your portable shooting table? Brand? I need one for my day's farm - I've got space there to shoot 600 yds but can't have anything permanent there. Thanks!

This is what a 142smk does to an elk at about 1700fps. Although not a x47 it was similar velocity.
