I know the Weather Warrior has the accu-stock, but are there any other differences? I can't find a weather warrior to look at. It is more money, so is it better made?
I only looked at the TH XP for a minute, but it had a blued mag with IIRC, a plastic mag release and trigger guard. Is it the same for the weather warrior?
I've never owned a Savage. I read on another thread that they have pot metal and sheet metal parts. What parts are made from cheap material? Are they holding up for you guys, or are cheap pars breaking?
n the weather warrior, what parts are blued?
Thanks

As far as I know the major difference between the 2 is the accu-stock. Before the acc-stock, Savages were still well known for accuracy.
It's hard to compare weight, because the XP has Nikon glass with it.
Both have the accu-trigger.

Pot metal and sheet metal? I have Never heard of a Savage failing on the range or in the feild.
Just my opinions, but I just called Savage yesterday and they are good people that have good customer service. For what that is worth.

I'd suggest buying a Tikka or 700 instead. A friend and I bought a couple WWs(30-06 and 300WSM) and both were sold shortly after purchasing. Neither shot worth a damn, despite the BS folks rave about the Savage accuracy. My bud sent his back to Savage and they sent it back with a 3" group and a note saying it passed their accuracy test! He promptly traded it on a 700.

All my Savages will put 3-shots in 1-hole and function great. I really like the accustock and trigger. Reloader, sounds like your buddy got the 2-bad ones. No flies on the 700's, but the ones I have needed triggers, bedding, etc to make them shoot well. 700's are sexxier if that is what you want.

The difference I have seen is plastic vs. metal magazines on the two and trigger guards. Buddy bought the 116 TH XP, and it's accurate. I prefer the Weather Warrior due to metal instead of plastic. With the problems I have had with my Rem 700 SS, it's probably my last Remington rifle.

I have had fantastic results from Savages. I have 3 friends who recently purchased one and had me do load work-up. One was a weather warrior 308 Win, the others were Stevens 200s (bottom-tier "old <ie pre-accu>model 110s"), one in 308 Win and the other 30-06. The 308s gave up sub-moa 3-shot groups on their second loads... Both RL15 & 165 gr Hornadys.

The 06 took a little more work but also succumbed to RL15 & 165 gr Interlocks, as well as 110 gr varmint bullets. The former gave up sub-moa for 3-shots, the latter genuine one-holers.

That 06 cost $240.

I have nothing but good to say bout em.

On my 110 which is now a 243 Win w/ a take-off barrel shoots moa most of the time though not as consistently as my friends' rifles. That rifle came w/ a plastic trigger guard and I got a matte metal one for like $10 from Brownells. I am 99.9% sure you can get a SS one.

Savages have tons of aftermarket stuff available including stocks and easily-switch barrels. Tikka, which are undoubtedly accurate, don't have that.

Thanks for the replies.
I have a Tikka (crazy, easy accurate) and a Remington. (A model 7 turned into an F-class gun.)
I was asking about the Savage because I was thinking about a 6.5 Creedmoor and it looks like Savage and Ruger are the choices. My last Hawkeye had a really weak finish and since I've never had a Savage, I thought I'd ask about them.
That info about the Weather Warrior having metal instead of plastic is just what I was looking for.
Does anyone know if what I heard about them having cast metal (zinc alloys known for being brittle) is correct?
