It might be discontinued because it took TC 45 minutes to CNC the action alone on that rifle. Remington could build 100 model 700's in the same time period ....................................and it shows grin No remington I ever owned could shoot like this TC does NONE

Yea, most Model 700s will do much better. At least T/C copied Remington's rifling which helped it. Oh well the Icon is gone and no great loss.

I'm glad I got my Icons while the gettin was good.

Remington makes some good looking 700s. They have their following for a reason. I owned one of the ADLs once. Never gave me any problems, kicked like a mule. Went through a temptation to pick up a Rem varmint model a few years ago, opted for the wthby/howa options instead. I know a lot of folks who have more than one 700 and like them a lot. One of the gents in my club experienced a trigger issue on an older model. Even though I only see him carry Kimbers now, he still speaks highly of Remington.

Handled one shot one, no thanks.....T/C copied the 5R rifling...really. Remington invented the USMC and Army rifles equipped with 5R rifling. There's a good reason the US military uses Remingtons. There's a reason people have trigger problems. It applies to all brands.

So would anyone consider the 5R rifling an upgrade?

Bolt actions in the gun locker: (1)Win Model 70,(2) Weatherby Vanguards,(1) Howa 1500,(2) TC Icons. What does this mean? All use flat-bottom actions. I think I may have a bias against round-bottom actions.

I did purchase a Stevens 200 once,..... as a gift to someone else.

Well you're half right. Remington did make the M-24 and M40, but "Boots" Obermeyer was the first to use 5R here in the states. He didn't "invent" it either.

Best out of the box shooting rifle ive ever shot, was a TC Icon 30-06. Still own it, and wont ever sell it. I own two Rem 700, an M70, and a weatherby. Not that I have to convince anyone. I know what the targets and the dead game look like to prove it.

The Icon's don't do anything for me personally, but I haven't heard anyone that's actually owned one have anything really negative to say about them. That says more to me than my personal likes or dislikes.
