On the left hand side,on the barrel just ahead of the receiver,the letter "B" and AA.Now,the B should mean January,If it had just one "A" it would mean January 1954.What does the "AA" mean?

Well, the "A" shows up for 1932, 1954, and 1980. It is obviously not the earlier OR the latter... So logic would seem to indicate that it's either Jan "B" , or March "A" of 1954.

Shameless: I am guessing that the person holding the hammer and the "A" stamp back in January of 1954 pounded that stamp in the barrel of your Rifle one to many times???
Seeings there were no Remington Model 721's made in 1932 nor in 1980 then I am going with the human error made there in 1954.
I have a mint condition Remington Model 581 (22 L.R. bolt action Rifle made from 1967 to 1983) that was most likely made in September of 1974 - it has the double "Y" (Y Y) stamping on the barrel ahead of a single "D" stamping!
The double "Y" stamp if not an error would indicate the year of 1952 - and seeings the Model 581 did not appear until 1963 then I am sticking with the human error possibility.
So apparently human error or some such thing is not rare in barrel stampings for dates of production on Remington guns - a lesson here perhaps?

I would respectfully disagree on how "not rare" incorrect barrel assembly code barrel stamps are on Remington firearms. Considering the number of firearms assembled by Remington, I would expect the error rate of barrel code assembly stamps to be very small, probably a fraction of one percent, and would expect the errors in month codes, since they change twelve times per year, to be significantly greater than errors in year codes. I doubt that the month/year assembly codes are stamped seperately, rather I'd expect both letters to be stamped with a single blow.

In this case, I would expect the "B" to be a gallary stamp and the "AA" to be the 03/54 assembly code date.

Yeah,it has a really small upper case letter "B" and then two really large upper case letter"AA"'s.
