You've never been one to grasp a point and you take things far to personal. I'm guessing the wife ain't the only one in the house that sits to pee.

Has anyone here looked up and read the mission/goals/statements of the National Education Association? Scary stuff that...

It permeates the whole of the US, like a cancer frown

Correct! Big union outcome for our schools.

JSTUART, I understood what Steelhead was trying to illuminate worthwhile.

Try this: OUR kids were home schooled by MY wife and me for a time sufficient to prepare them for relative success in the public schools. OUR kids then benefited from what good those schools did have to offer because OUR kids received ongoing coaching from OUR home. OUR kids were extremely well nourished in OUR home, were extremely well behaved in school as a result of standards learned in OUR home, and were welcomed into OUR home immediately after school each day by MY wife, who then contributed even more to their daily learning and nourishment.

Possibly more important, OUR kids would speak up and stand up to public school teachers and principals who misspoke, who tried to propagandize, who were lazy, who misused school time and resources or who attempted to abuse their privileges as public employees. OUR kids did speak and stand up to them many, many times. Consequently, WE were provided some fine opportunities, as parents, to discuss professional principles and learning theory with some would-be educators who, interestingly, had already heard the schoolroom version of same from OUR kids.

A lot of the above was not easy, but it worked well to the advantage of the child still does. It looks as though OUR kids are raising THEIR kids the same way. Hard work, there - ongoing

Out of all the responses this comes closest to addressing MHP's mindset in making the statement she did.

It wasn't children in general but the inner city kids who have no parental guidance. They're disadvantaged and need the help of govt, the community, and society at large to succeed.

It's all about getting more whether it's money, food, babysitting, education, guidance, integrity ... anything and everything that parents should provide but don't. It's the socialist mindset and desire for a nanny state ... literally.

MHP's new ad that came out today further explains what I mentioned. It's society's obligation to provide for those that can't provide for themselves.

She's an ignorant socialist POS that can't conceptualize personal and parental responsibility.

I understand the reasoning behind what they are postulating...my problem is that given an inch they will take a mile.

It is what Government departments do...and you can bet your bottom dollar that any group that finds a way to control others will be integrated into some Government department.

Less interference I get, the happier I am.
