Big 7's are monsters with good manners....hell, feed them right,zero them proper, and you don't even need a turret to get to 600...

I run H1000 in my 7 lrm. I just picked up some 180 hybrids to try. I'd been working with the VLD hunting but Gunwerks told me they run the hybrids so I thought I'd give a few a try. Hope to have time to load some tonight.

Thought I would chime in. I'm on my 4th loading using the original 375Ruger headstamp 7LRM brass and it's holding up well. I did load some up to 73.6grs of H1000 to get to 3240fps. Very accurate, but extractor marks and occasional stiff bolt lift. Those brass had loose primer pockets at the second loading...too hot! The rifle shoots amazing.

Have these LRM guys never heard of Art Mashburn?

I went up to 72 g of H1000 and a 180 in my lrm and started getting a little bit of stiff bolt lift and brass flow into the ejector hole. Too bad because the groups were really starting to come together with that load and the hybrids. They clocked 3108 from my 26" rock 8.5 twist. Despite the brass flow and the bolt lift the primer pockets are still holding up well.

It's interesting to compare.....I'm not seeing very much difference assuming same bullets and equal barrel lengths...

Anybody have the 7 LRM case length available? And the trim to length? Wondering if it's the same as the .375 Ruger, or a little shorter.

Gunwerks has the 7 LRM brass at 2.514" and Nosler had the 375 Ruger brass at 2.58". http://www.nosler.com/375-ruger

I just ordered the 7mm LRM reamer, die set, and brass from Gunwerks. Aaron was more than helpful and sent me an email with a short write up on the LRM and reamer specs after talking with him. Here is part of that article.

"The development goal behind the design of the 7LRM was to achieve balance, not extreme performance. Really, shooting at animals beyond 1000 yards is a tricky proposition�not for the novice. The Gunwerks crew lives for long range gear and shots, but the number of animals killed at or beyond 1000 can be counted on one hand. Maybe this is because we film our hunts, and can�t afford a miss or bad shot placement.
We need to balance the requirement of a minimum velocity threshold of 2000 fps at 1000 yards with a hunting weight bullet, and wind deflection numbers that will allow 30-50% uncertainty in our wind estimation against recoil, cost, and case life for reloading. We wanted a cartridge of modern design that fit in a standard magazine box that will take any game we want to chase in all conditions-basically the ultimate hunting cartridge.
First off, we settle on the 7mm diameter bullet because of the high ballistic coefficients of hunting weight bullets from 160 to 180+ grains. Then we look for a case to base the cartridge from to save thousands in tooling costs. The 375 Ruger from Hornady is perfect. The 375 is very similar to the genius 30 Newton cartridge from 100 years ago. This cartridge case fits a standard magnum bolt face without modification, and there is no rebated rim as on the massive Ultra Magnum case. We fit the neck length to the longer 180 grain bullet, with the overall case length of 2.5 inches. With a 30 degree shoulder and minimum body taper, we achieve nearly 3100 fps velocity with a 180 grain bullet. If one compared the LRM case against two of our other favorite cartridges the 6XC and 6.5-284 Norma, you will notice some striking similarity."

My plan is to take a brand new M70 EW 7 Rem Mag and have it rechambered into the 7 LRM. After having a 338-375 Ruger built, I just had to have a
7mm-375! I want the LRM for correct headstamped brass and no stepped forming. Think it will make a great all around NA rifle less the big bears.

Gun Is Almost Done! Any Other Load Ideas? Any Powder Besides H1000?

I know it is a larger boltface and there may be magazine concerns but I've had the hankering to neck the 300 Norma down to 7mm..... It should be in the same class.

RL25,Retumbo. I found that the slower stuff worked better with bullets of 160 gr and up.

RL22 was excellent with 120 TTSX(3550fps), and 140's at 3350 or so.

With 150 gr bullets you should do well with IMR7828.

I'm Looking At Using The 175 Lrab. I Figured R25 Had To.Come Into The Mix.... Just Hadn't Heard It In Use Anywhere... Care To Share Some Data?

Anybody know if the 7lrm reamer will clean up a 7RM chamber?

Mine liked retumbo too. I actually got better speed with retumbo even with the same charge as H1000 it was weird given that 1000 is supposed to burn a bit faster.

firstcouse I can't because I have never used the 175 in the LRM...cause I never had one.

But I did have a 7mm Dakota which is very much the same thing as the LRM but with a slightly different head size. I basically used the Barnes Manual data in working up loads for the Dakota and found the velocities very much spot on.

When I was working with the Dakota I noticed that RL22 did very well with lighter bullets but when I got to bullets of 150-160 gr, the powders with burning rates like RL22,H4831 etc did not do as well in accuracy and velocity...I went to RL25 and it worked very well with 150-160 gr. bullets.

I never got to the 175's in the Dakota.

However I was on the website for the Gunwerks 7mm LRM and noticed their top charges with the 175 and H1000 were within a grain or so of what I use in the 7mm Mashburn Super...and velocities were similar as well. Bottom line is I think these cases are very much the same and if you find RL25-175 data for the 7mm Dakota I think you could back off and work up with the LRM and end up at about the same place. That's how I would do it.

I also think you will find that Retumbo and/or RL25 will be excellent and capable of a bit more velocity than H1000 but not by much.

RL-33 worked with 180s in my 7mm/375 yielding higher velocities than H-1000. Trying to find some Retumbo to try next.
