hey for any of you gents that have found what a great powder AR Comp from Alliant is... ( a temp insensitive version of RL 15 the company says.. but is a hair faster in burn rate).. and like to strictly use factory load data....

Alliant has updated load data for AR Comp....

of particular interest of mine, is that they added the 22.250 with bullet weights from like 52 grains all the way to 80 grain bullets...

they also added the 260 Rem and the 7/08 Rem...

so just a heads up... data can be found on Alliant's web site..
but to just get the AR Comp, click on products, and then the powder, and then it will list loads and calibers they have data available for...

peculiar but they dropped data on the 6mm Rem... mad

since I didn't write it down, guess I'll have to work up my own load data...

I haven't seen the claim that AR Comp is more temp-resistant than RL-15. Where'd you find that? On the Alliant website they just claim both are consistent across a wide range of temperatures.

RL-15 is pretty good--or has been for the last 10-12 years, since it was reformulated for military use. But in my own tests it still isn't as temp-resistant as the Hodgdon Extremes. I haven't had a chance to test AR-Comp in cold weather yet, but it has shot real well in more than one .223. Can't remember trying it in any other case yet.

It shoots very well with 25.5 grs and 55gr FMJ's. I had a chance to pick up 8-lbs and wish I had. Point of impact was equal to H335, but cleaner burning. Good stuff!

JB,

Ben Ammonette at Radford Arsenal Told me that.... I was calling asking about load data... I had learned of the powder from an Article that called it the Swedish Varget... don't remember what magazine.. but was something I was probably thumbing thru at Bi Mart or Walmart and it caught my eye...

Ben had told me that it was supposed to be a temp insensitive version of RL 15..... so I asked if I could just use RL 15 data and he told me NO, as AR Comp turned out to be a hair faster than RL 15....

So I asked if I could use RL 12 data and he told me that it was faster than AR Comp...

I have tried it in the 223, 22.250, 243, 6mm Rem and 260 ( with 100 grain bullets and down in weight.. mega accurate with Sierra 85 gr and 100 grain HPs and Nosler 100 grain Ballistic Tips, in at least my Ruger factory rifle and my ER Shaw Model 70....

I have used almost 4 lbs of AR Comp so far and I wish I could get an 8lb container. I am down to 3 1lb canisters. It is my go to powder right now for 22-250 which I am running 52gr Bergers at 3920pfs. I am loading it in the .308 with 168gr AMax and the Sierra MK both shoot equally well and my last Chrono session I had single digit SD's with both bullets.
It is a great powder for 123gr and 140gr in the 6.5 Creedmore also. Clean burning and meters great so what's not to like.
