Good thing - we all know what "assume" does...........
The Model 250 Lever-action was a typical Post-64 design Winchester .22, made from 1963-73 - that wasn't very popular in the day, due to the change in receiver material from steel to aluminum (something taken for granted today)and the plain stocks.
They were the levergun (M150/250/255/255D) part of an entire family consisting also of autoloading (M190/290) & pump (M270/275) rifles that used the same basic receivers, stocks & tube magazines that were all pretty much discontinued by around 1980.
They were ok utility rifles that worked well until they didn't - and then they became a PITA to repair.
It seems that more folks seem to "like" them today, then when they were in production - most likely (IMO) due to the effect of internet exposure that wasn't even a wet dream back then.
