I don't see how they will trump a Barnes.

Cost and likely velocity due to less bullet sticking into the case

I always figured cost was the best indicator of bullet performance, laffin

A B.C. of a brick has got to help also. I don't buy the velocity either, Barnes push fast easy.

B.C. is better than a brick, but not as good as a football grin I dont shoot at important stuff with the cf .22s past 300 yds. no thats no biggie.

Speeed wise I had a couple anomalies with lighter Barnes, and had to ask JB. Seems the lighter ones have very little bearing surface, meaning less pressure, meaning less velocity ( In some rifles...) My .223AI was only getting 3200 out of the 50 TTSX whilst the same rifles gets 3500 out of a 55 gr. Horn..( 3100 out of the 64 grainer Nosler)
That said, my .22-250 clocks the lighter Barnes just about right...
I gotta try some Barnes 62s.... wink

62TSX is where I start with them.

Easy to up the pressure with more powder.

Nothing a good 3 groove 8 twist tube can't cure.

I'm maxing out in the 3100's with the 64 BSB and the 62 TSX out of my Montana. Granted, just a 9 twist vanilla 223. Accuracy has been far from stellar with both. I've been focusing on TAC, but may try some different powders today.

You guy's are bringing back my doubts about the compatibility of my 12 twist Remington 700 .223 with these bullets. Time will tell when I can get to the bench.

25 of TAC was the best for far.

I tried H4895 and Varget this afternoon. Nothing stellar there either. So far this rifle with any bullet is an 1 1/4" shooter. Not really what I want in a 223...

I agree, if I can't get anything better in my 5R, I'll scrap the bullet.

Your 5R will shoot just fine.
