Clean in good condition...definitely, but are you talking shottie with slugs or air rifle. I wouldn't be putting a rifle scope on an air rifle as they get rattled to pieces.
C series Zeiss are very good scopes.
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

I had one of these, sold it as the eye relief is just pathetic and I CERTAINLY would NEVER use one on a slug gun or anthing beyond a 7-08 level of recoil for that reason.
I have three of the later Zeiss Conquests in 4x and they are on two light Brno ZG-47 rifles, original factory 9.3x62s, in light synthetic stocks and on my most beloved, first, original P-64 Mod. 70 Alaskan-.338WM, also in a synthetic. These, have the eye relief that one requires on a gun/rifle with substantial recoil and are better-to my eyess- than the Diatal.
YMMV.but after three combo guns in 12 ga., my Browning Mod. 7500 in .308Win-12, my Merkel 96K in 9.3x74R-12 and a Valmet .308-12, plus a Remmy 870 and a Benelli Nova slug gun, I use 4x Leupys on guns of this sort and prefer them to all the other scopes I tried on these guns.

I have had one on a fairly lightweight .308 for over 20 years. I never noticed short eye relief. Darn good glass. My daughter (5'6") shoots it too, and it has knocked her cap off, but has never bit either of us.

I just bought a zeiss 4x32 diatal-c for $300 locally & thought I got a deal. There is 1 in classifieds for $275.00 but I can't get the seller to send pictures. I have 3 diatal 4x & have not had eve refief problems with them. It is an ideal scope for a short action rifle, the 2 bottom rifles in the picture are 4x on Remington m7's, they are a perfect fit. The top is a 3x9c on a M700 Remington long action. I have never tried a 4x on a long action but it looks like a tight fit. My best hunting rifles all have the old German 1" Zeiss scopes.

Looks like it would not be a fit for my slug gun with a short eye relief.
thanks

I have one like that. It has some ring marks but optics are 100%.
Send me a PM and we'll discuss it.

I don't see ER as a problem. I agree that a LA mount would be a challenge, especially if you like your scope set back a bit. Could probably do it with ext. front base. Mine was on a M-7 Rem and worked great, even set back some. DF

The photo of the Model Sevens brought back memories of hunting in Michigan with a Model Seven MS in .308 and a Zeiss Diatal C 4x32. I had no problem then with the eye relief but I probably would now with my current eyeglass prescription. I remember two specific episodes with the Zeiss. 1) looking down the hill through brush at a small but tasty forkhorn buck. I was amazed and gratified at how the Zeiss optics showed crispy clear every branch and twig on the way down and an unobstructed path through them to the buck. He dropped in place at the shot. 2) a day or two later about 10 minutes before the end of legal shooting time I was watching a small buck among does in a field. I could see his antlers clearly through the 7x42 Swarovski binoculars but not throught the 4X32 Zeiss optics, wonderful as they were. Since then I prefer to have a 6X capability in the optics on my rifles. I make an exception for the Zeiss Conquest 4X32 because it is so nice. Except for dawn and dusk, the older Zeiss Diatal-C 4x32 is very nice.

GrimJim, sounds like you answered my (un-asked)question.I have a Conquest 4X on my Forester.I always thought of switching for another just because it's matt.I think a gloss would look better. The problem is the Conquest is awesome, don't know what other straight 4X could beat it.
Sorry,I drank the Sako-Aid.My opinion may be biased. bh444

When was it made ? If I recall correctly, Zeiss didn't start putting seals under their adjustment dials until the mid 90's. E
