...why did Remington discontinue it? These have got to be one of the best lightweight out of the box hunting rifles going. I found a friend's nephew a .308 about 5 years ago and it just impressed me as needing nothing...

Thursday night I was at a big local shop and found a mint one just like I had found my friend's nephew for $495.00. Had a Weaver base and rings with a Leupold VX-III 2.5-8 waiting patiently to be mounted on something....

Set it up last night and went out with Ken (firearms44) this morning and was pleasantly surprised...

First three shot group at 100 with Federal AE 150 grain ball.....

Fired another three shot group but since #3 was a called pull another shot was fired and just widened one of the holes...this time with Federal PowerShok..

Now I'm thinking a McMillian Model SEVEN KS stock to match a .350 Rem. Mag. I usually hunt with...

Remington needs to bring the SEVEN back in stainless...

Because Big Green, or Remington has always had their heads up their ass!

They build a rifle or shotgun than really works, or is accurate, you can bet they will discontinue it!

Case in Point : Model 788, Model 600 & 660, XP-100, Model 1100 Lt. 20ga,
even the Nylon 66 .22lr series

They'd rather build cheap [bleep] that doesn't work like the 710 or 770 or whatever they called that POS Bolt Action they tried to pawn off on the public.

I own a quite a few of the old Model Remington 700's 788's & 1100's
But I'll Never Buy Another New Production Remington.
I'd rather buy Tikkas or Winchester, or even a Ruger wink

They are my favorite hunting rifle too.

The KS stock won't disappoint. I like the Brown Precision construction better myself.

A buddy of mine let a Mdl7 KS 7/08 go in a trade, on a whim, for what he figured as $400.00. I could'a killed him.

The Remington Model 7 is two of my favorite rifles. One is in 338 Fed and the other is a 260 Remington. Those two will do just about anything I need to do with a centerfire rifle. I do like to use a 35 Remington Marlin 336 or Remington 141 for thick woods hunting because the 35Rem just isn't quite as destructive for those really close up shots.

If another Model 7 came my way at a good price, I have all ideas it would end up as a 35 Remington and my rifle battery would become very simple and much smaller than it is now.

I had the same one in 7mm-08, like a idiot I sold it, I have tried to buy it back from the guy several times, all he will say is" aw naw". One in 260 would be nice too.

Ken had a Model SEVEN Custom Shop 7KS in .35 Remington with him yesterday. It was in the camo Brown Preciaion stock. He also has a .250 Savage in the McMillian...both are sweet shooters. I have a .350 RM but have always thought that the .358 Winchester would be the perfect round for that 20" barrel.

You won't find one with a KS stock for under $500. That is one of the cheap tupperware stocks that came on most of them. You're rifle looks like a winner. I had one just like it for a while that would do good to keep 3 shots on the paper plate. I didn't keep mine long.

Good find on the .308! I like the Model 7's an awful lot, have two in 7-08 and one in .243. I worked on one for a friend that did not shoot well, shimmed under the lug and it ended up doing fine.

I worked this load up for my nephew's first deer hunt last season

It served him well..

That's a very nice little rifle! Right caliber too. That is one thing I have always enjoyed about the .308 is that they seem so easy to find loads that shoot well. It seems hard to find a finicky one.

Very nice score and an excellent all around rifle.

The Tikka T3 in .308 Winchester is the Glock 19 of the rifle world.

Why not a 358?

Huntin' bud bought one in 7mm-08 for his youngest son many years ago. He was so impressed with it, bought himself one when they came out with the SS/synthetic 20" barreled version.

Shot very well with his 140gr Btip loads. I carried it a few times in deer seasons, never got to thump anything with it though. A joy to carry.

Still on my "to do" list.

I like a 358 Winchester and used to have one on a 660 Remington action, but it just has more power than I need. When I use one of my 35 Remington's it is usually going to be a shot that is under 40 yards and maybe under 20yards. The whitetails around here aren't very big bodied deer and don't need much killing. The 35 Remington gets the job done and doesn't mess up much meat. It also doesn't kick as much as a 358 Winchester and as I get older I enjoy the kick less.

Just curious since you have a 260 and 338.

I acquired a Marlin 336A in 35 Remington and it is a pussycat, I love it too.

I picked up a stainless model 7 in 7mm 08 last year for my GF to use in shooting houses due to its smaller size. It quickly became one of my favorite guns and now gets more use than my 30/06.

No they won't.

McMillan is offering them to the public. I just got this one in Edge after a seven month wait. Will be filled with a SS M7 action with 250AI PacNor bbl sometime later this year.

A lightweight Model Seven in 35Rem would be a cool WT rifle!
