What's the heaviest gr factory 223's you got to shoot good out of a 12 twist? I was looking at federal fusion 62 gr,fed 64 gr sp, rem hyp 62 gr core lokt ultra bonded, win 64 gr pp, and 64 gr protected hp. Anyone have any real world exp with any of these?

Several years ago when my boys were young, we used Winchester 64gr.PP several times on deer and hogs out of a NEF single shot and Rem 700. Honestly couldn't comment on "accuracy" as we typically just sighted the rifle in for 60 yards and kept shots under 100.

TSX/TTSX in factory Black Hills and Barnes Vortex, probably others. Federal Premium 60gr Nosler Partition is another option if your rifle shoots them. They're also loaded in the Winchester Ranger LE .223 line.

Forgot to add that Remington loads 62gr TSX in their .223 Hog Hammer line too. My rifle hated it, but YMMV.

62 TSX will NOT work in a 1-12" twist.

Last December Shot a fair (for Scrotely Mid Tenn) 7 pt whitetail @ 21 yards w Sabre Defence w 1x9-twist 16-in. Loaded w Barnes Vor-Tx 55-grain. Laced top of heart and both lungs. Stumbled 25 yards and died like the last deer I shot w a .45/70.
The plan: get within 150 yards of deer. Place shot precisely w load yer WRA deems legal...draw field dressing knife. Do not over think...just aim and squeeze precisely....

The remington hypersonic 62 gr bonded core lokt looks interesting. It's supposed to be big greens answer to the superformance line. Published fps is 3262 which makes it a fuzz faster than their own 55gr sp load, and 260 fps faster than feds 62 gr fusion load.

I'm guessing someone still makes a load using the 60 grain partition. Not sure what twist is needed for it.

62 TSX will NOT work in a 1-12" twist. FWIW, my 1-9" Montana doesn't like them either.

I've had poor luck getting the 60gr. Partitions to shoot in several rifles. I gave up on them. I've had much better luck with the 53gr. TSX, and I run the 70gr. TSX in my 22-250, but it's twisted 1:8.
I'd think the 53 or 55gr TSX would work ok. But I've not actually used either in a .223/1:12.

Here's what appears to be available in heavier factory ammo, with the exception of the 55gr Barnes.
Winchester
64gr PSP 60gr PDX (defensive ammo) 77gr PDX 64gr Razor Back 64gr bonded
Federal
62gr Fusion 60gr partition 55gr Barnes triple shock
Remington
All Match bullets, take your chances
62gr HP 69gr BTHP 77gr BTHP
Barnes
55gr TSX
If three or more people think you're a dimwit, chances are at least one of them is right.
