Do I feel old. Not a pencil barrel Safari on the whole crummy thread. Dang..., used to be one of the finest rifles the world has ever known, with their sako/mauser/579 actions, stepped barrels & amazing stocks....

Sucks getting old.

Figure I'd bump this to the top again........As luck would have it, I'm down to only the .308 now. My dad fell in love with the .25/06 and as an early fathers day present, I let him have it. Just got the gun back from the Smith after he performed the surgery to turn it into a Micro-Medallion clone. Here she is wearing a Vortex Crossfire 2-7x32 (temporarily) until my back-ordered Minox 1.5-8x32 comes in with Talley super-low Lightweights. Have yet to range it, but that comes tomorrow!!!

In comparison to the A-Bolt, did Browning streamline the mechanics in the trigger group and bolt field stripping with the X-Bolt? CP.

DMc, the two Safaris that I mentioned are a matched pair of small ring Mauser actioned guns. .243 and .308. Both are tack drivers. My daughters or grand daughters will get them, when I finish up here. Jack

A far better, and more natural pic of the new A-Bolt!!! Just didn't feel right with all the summer green around, so made it look more fall like!!!

Can't wait to get back home to Missouri to my reloading bench and to the range next month for a couple weeks. Got new x-bolts in 7-08 and 7wsm. Have only gotten to shoot the 7-08 (Syn Stalker) so far and it is 3/4" with 120 gr NBTs and Varget. It was the first bolt action browning I've owned. Like it so well that when a good deal on the 7wsm (SS Stalker)showed up I couldn't resist.

Not computer savey enough to figure out how to post a pic either. But I own 5 Brownings.
Browning A-Bolt stalkers 243 Win, 30-06, 300 Win Mag
Browning BPS Stalker 12 ga.
Browning Buckmark pistol .22lr

After owning and testing a lot of rifles over the years, I got tired of playing around. Browning is all I use now for my hunting needs. Save my muzzle loader.

Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money but we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money. What's interesting is the first group WORKED for their money but the other group didn't.

Oh man, Browning A-Bolts! I still remember the one that got away. While stationed at Ft. Hood, I found a new A-Bolt .25-06, that I told the wife I wanted for Christmas, crap happened and the funds were just not there to afford it at the time. Fast forward 13+ years, and I looked all over AK for a Browning X-Bolt in .300WSM. After being quoted $100 more than the regular price just to order one in .300WSM, I opted for a Remington 700 SPS in .300WM instead. I keep telling myself I will own one someday....

You sure about that? To hear some tell it on here, the A-Bolt is just about outlawed in Alaska cause they simply fall apart and turn to utter failure at the sight of those rugged/extreme conditions...........LOL!!!

Every time you people start posting pictures of your rifles on the internet I wind up spending more money.
