I recently got a Coleman 1996 Yukon pop up camper and trying to get it ready for deer season. What is the best waterproofing for the canvas? Doesn,t make any difference if it is spray on or wipe on to me Just want some good stuff.
Is it real canvas? I thought they quit using that before '96?
Our '74 was real canvas. Bought in 2008. Original owner said he'd been using Minwax for 5 years. Something similar before that. We kept using minwax and the canvas outlasted the trailer.
Read up on this new product NeverWet. It's a spray on sold by Rustoleum, available at Home Depotb. I've read quite a bit about it but haven't tried it.

If it has been previously treated I doubt the never wet will stick. I think Canvak stinks- literally. I have used Thompson's water seal but it only lasts a couple of years. It is easy to apply with a pump up sprayer.

I've used Rapid Roof� for years on two canvas tents. Works great, easy to apply, and can be used for repairing a tear or hole in the tent. Do a search and you'll find it.

If Canvak stinks worse than Thompsons, it's pretty bad stuff. I once coated a tent floor (outside) with Thompsons. I painted it on. It still stunk pretty bad 2 YEARS later.

It is a little of both,the bottom 7 inches or so is a type of plastic but the top and sides are canvas. From what I have read so far it seems like either the Canvak or a product I found called Cerf-Kote or the Minwax(have to investigate that one )is the way to go.
I looked more closely today and found that not only were the bottom edge a type of plastic but the top is a vinly type of material as well ! the only part that is a canvas type material is a small area on the ends and small amount on the sides. Given this I think I will just a can of spray from wally world on these parts ,what do I ned to put on the vinly parts for uv protection etc? Craig
