I have a buddy with a rem 700 264 win mag in stainless sporter factory barrel. It has a 26" barrel. Here is my question. Did rem make the 264 winmag in a stainless sporter model. My buddy has put it in a HS percision stock that shoots lights out.

Do you mean the 700 BDL SS, stainless steel with a synthetic stock? If so, yes, they made them, and they were 26" bbls. I have two of those NIB somewhere in my stacks. Don't know how accurate this is, but according to my notes, there were 500 of those ordered up by Acusport in 2001.

Yes, there was a fluted version also, in the 700 CDL, with wood CDL stocks and 26" bbls. According to my notes, there were 75 stainless and 75 blued models ordered up my Big Rock Sports in 2007. However, there was also apparently a second order by Big Rock.

This is not a fluted model. Standard sporter BDL. I looked on the remington website could not find anything SS standard sporter. He has only shot 140gr partitions in it and it will shoot. I am thinking of buying it but was wondering if anyone has one that has shot 120gr out of them.

I believe the M700s in .264 had the magnum barrel contour, not the sporter barrel. .

About a month ago I saw a M700CDL 264WM with a walnut stock
and stainless action with a fluted sporter barrel.

I have had one of these rifles for 10 years or so. It is my understanding that it is from that run of 500 mentioned above. It is a sporter contour, not a mag contour for sure. It has been one of the best shooting rifles I have ever owned. It loves the 120gr TTSX and did pretty well with the 125gr NP.

Thanks CB that is what I was interested in finding out. The gun belongs to a friend's brother in law that I cant explain how to check the twist. I would like to have the gun but would like to shoot 120grain stuff out of the gun. Do you no what twist your gun has.

the 700s in .264 have 1:9" twist and will shoot 120s. my Sendero would shoot 140s fine, but not the 142 SMK. I shot several .5 moa, 5 shot groups @ 550 yards with the 140 gr SMK, which is about as good as I can do.

learn something every day. I was not aware of any factory sporter contour M700s in .264 WM, but I had one made with a Brux barrel and McMillan Classc stock. Brux was fine with cutting a stainless tube to sporter contour for the .264.

That was the reason I ask about the sporter barrel in SS as I did not no they made them either. And since I could not find any info I was not sure of the twist. Glad it has a 26" barrel
