I love my 550 American, but one of these days I'm going to install a win model 70 3 position style safety on it..

I traded the American a few years ago, then found the FS earlier this year. It's lighter than the American and has the hog back type butt. Shooting from the bench is kicking my ass. Right now the 2 7mms are in the lead.

I know I need to get off the bench, but I'm trying to get the load dialed in. It is not fun. I think my recoil tolerance has diminished as I reach my mid 40's. I may list it later this week!

After reviewing my ammo inventory and the limited time i'll have to reload before elk season, it is looking more and more like the .338WM on the left. Lots of 225g Hornady SSTs for practice and 225g Nosler AccuBonds for the real work.

Worked on the trigger on both the .338 (left) and .30-06 (right) to reduce pull weight and creep. All three now excellent.

A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

Awesome CH!! Those ruger triggers can be nicely tuned. I always have 100 rounds loaded up for my 338 win mag: It's always ready to go elk hunting. Good luck with your hunting this year...
