Would you be so kind as to mention some of the specs on your rifle?

Such as stock/barrel/optics etc. Would greatly appreciate it good sir.

Ultralight Arms factory everything. ULA-specific Talley rings (came with the rifle). Scope is a Ziess 3-9 with RapidZ 600 reticle. I bought the rifle used so I don't know what, if anything, is a deviation from the standard rifle they build.

Thanks for he report. Im a big fan of the 155gr lapua mega out of my 6.5x55 out to 200 yards or so. Need something for longer distances but haven't committed to a bullet. Was thinking sc2 but I think I will wait to see how the long range accubond turn out.

An update on the 127 LRX

Last Saturday, two brothers, Cameron and Cody, whom I work with, went up behind my house on Saturday for Cameron's cow elk. Cameron had a bit of trouble with Cody's 300 Win Mag. He missed 6 times at two different cows. I offered to loan them my light 6.5x47 and they took me up on the offer. I instructed them how to dial up my NF 2.5-10x32 with NP-R2 reticle and printed up a drop chart. I wasn't worried about the wind as weather.com forecast calm to 2 mph.

Got a call about 3 pm. The cows stay up on the steep Western facing mountain behind my house. Cody coached Cameron into a 450 yd killing shot. The Barnes 127 gr LRX, running 2830 fps, zipped through both lungs of a very large cow. She ran about 30 yds before piling up and sliding down steep face in 3' of snow, stopping in some Gambel Oak brush.

Another good report. Our sample is small, but so far so good.

I've toyed with the idea of a 6.5 SAUM for several years now and this bullet makes that even more tempting. The way it's killing from a .260 does remove some of the motivation behind that, though.

I'm with you on that. I've heard the risk is minimal, but my kids eat venison on a pretty regular basis. So some X-rays that showed lead fragments from a study on the subject. Funny thing is my wife was the one that found out about it. She works with kids with special needs and I'll tell you, lead poisoning in kids is horrible. Most of it is due to plumbing, but still a bit unsettling. Haven't shot anything with lead since they were born. Even if it's bogus, lead for playing and copper for slaying.....

The lead fragments are my concern as well. Like the thought of not having to worry about lead fragments in my venison burger.

I still haven't made up my mind to build a 6.5 SAUM, but I haven't made up my mind not to, either. If I do, it will be around this bullet. I have a GAP .260 I could sell to fund the project, but I really like that rifle.... Thought about just having it punched to a SAUM and getting a PTG mag bolt, but the barrel is 22" and that's just a touch short for a SAUM.

I killed two bull elk in Az with 7 mag loaded with 140g NBT, 66.0g of IMR 4350, 9 1/2 primer. Both happened to be running at the impact. Legs immediately quit working at the bullet strike, they hit the dirt and were DRT. One never kicked, the other kicked a hind leg 3 times. Broadside shots approx. 12" behind the front shoulder, dead center of the body, distance 150-200 yards. I shot numerous cow elk, then went to a 243 with 95g partitions on cows with no problems.

The bullet is the cheapest part of the hunt, but stuff ain't hard to kill...you just have to place your shot or do not pull the trigger.
