Any idea what Leupold charges to change a reticle and how long it takes? I'm thinking about putting a 2.5x8 on a rifle but would like to have a German 4.
There's always the option of putting a VX-R 2x7 in Firedot 4 on it and just leaving the switch off (or having the option of using it, of course), but I really think I'd like the 2.5x8 on a FWT.

According to their custom shop website $35 for the reticle mod. Seems a little too cheap to me, but I previously asked about their TMR reticle and it was going to be $129.99 same as what the website lists. You should have your scope back within 3 weeks. I sent 3 scopes to them a couple months ago to have M1 turrets installed and had them back within 10 days of mailing them out. They called me the day they received them to verify what I wanted done and to get payment info, top notch customer service. Give them a call 1-800-LEUPOLD.

From an earlier post I made on my experience in August.
On 8-7-13, took a Leupold 3X20 Big Bore scope to the local post office. 8-12-13, Leupold sent an e-mail saying the scope had arrived. 8-15-13 UPS delivered the scope back to me.
Eight days total to ship to Leupold, have the reticle changed to Post and Duplex and for the scope to be back. I'm impressed! Quick service all around from Utah to Oregon and back.
Cost was $64.10 (including shipping from Leupold) and an additional $8.50 on my end to mail to Leupold.
