Anyone do it? The conversions I've seen done are with single mantle 200 lanterns.
My old double mantle 220J needs a new generator anyway so ordering the parts I think I need to convert instead seems like a good idea. Especially since Coleman Fuel at 10.00/gal is chapping my azz.

I don't know about Kerosene conversions, but there was a simple unleaded gas conversion out a few years ago. I used it on a few of my lanterns. I won't call it a failure, but it did gunk the lanterns up quite a bit.
The conversion consisted of brass wings screwed onto the generator shaft. It caused the shaft to get hotter and (hopefully) burn the gas cleaner. It worked kinda-sorta. I had to use brake cleaner on the lantern after each trip to get the crud dissolved. On the other hand, when I burned white gas, the unit worked better than ever with the conversion on.

Just buy an Aladdin kerosene lantern, for Pete's sake. Then you'll have two - using two different fuels. Smarter, no?

I have a redundant gas 220F so I can experiment with the 220J with minimal risk. Plus, Coleman, in the old days, was the antithesis of discardable Chinese made crap. Can't let that go to waste.

Cool idea. Copper wire wrapped around the generator tube should serve the the same function as the wing nuts. I am on it.
