Some Norma powder is becoming available, so I'm getting MRP, 217 and URP from MidwayUSA. Figured I'd better get what I could while I could.

Years ago I had great results with Norma 204 in my 7mm-08. No longer have that rifle, and have only a remnant of N-204 remaining. I understand from Norma promo that URP is similar to 204, with 10% TNT for increased energy. I guess that's like the Vv 500 series vs. the Vv 200 series.

MRP, reportedly is close to RL-22, maybe with less temp sensitivity and maybe more lot to lot consistency.

Not much out there on N-217. I'm thinking it must be close to RL-25. I have a 7RM that performs best with RL-25 and 168 VLD's/180 VLD's. Does anyone have N-217 loading data for the 7RM? I can't find anything on Norma's website.

Any thoughts/advice on these Norma powders?

I have used URP with good results in both 284 win and 7mm wsm. Seems to be similar to 4350.

My only experience with Norma MRP was a long time ago. I used it in 300 Weatherby. I used it because that is what Weatherby ammunition used from the Norma manufacture of their ammo. They actually had loading data using it. I was shooting my "normal" load that I shot all the time. It was in the summer. I had just shot 4 shots of an intended 5 shot string when a friend of mine came up to talk to me. I put the gun on safe and talked to him about 10 minutes. After he left I shot the fifth one. The recoil was significantly more. The cartridge had been sitting in the hot chamber. I had to hammer the bolt open because the brass had extruded in to the ejector hole. The Mark V action was fine. But that taught me a lesson on temperature effects. The barrel was not that hot. The load was about 98% of the listed max.

Gun Shows are almost as comical as boat ramps in the Spring.

I've had excellent performance with MRP in the 270, 280 & 33 Win.

It's fine grained & meters very will through a decent powder measure.

I use MRP in my 280AI, 7mm SAUM.

217 is the replacement for MRP2.

Enough already, just shoot it!

MRP=RL-22

I was under the impression that 204 was identical to rl19.

I heard from the famous "source close to Norma" that RL22 is MRP that does not make all the required specs. I have shot MRP for years, still shooting some I bought when a gunshot closed.

I ordered an 8# jug of MRP from MidwayUSA. That prorates the price per pound to $15. And, that stuff will last a long time.

Before the powder shortage, I had gotten powder ($700+ order) from Powder Valley, which is in Winfield, KS. My in-laws live in Wichita and I got my BIL to pick up the order. He lives in Derby, so it wasn't that far. When we visited Wichita last year, I got my powder without having to pay Haz Met or freight. Glad I did, as lot of what I bought is now very hard to find.

I was pleased to see Norma powder starting to show up on dealer shelves. I had never used MRP, but from what I understand, it's about like (or the same as) RL-22, which I like and use. RL-22 is my .300 Win Mag powder of choice. Although I have a couple of cans of RL-22, it's nice to have MRP back up.
