What is your average amount in winter?

Yes, but not that much -- about an inch. Temp was at +3*F last night. I'm afraid winter is here.

It rained here yesterday and at nightfall it turned to light snow showers. Nothing on the ground this morning even though it dropped to -2 or -3 last night. There is starting to be a bite in the air that tells us winter is on the way.

A few patches in town, more at higher elevations. A bit of freezing rain earlier this morning. Light rain continuing now, but it has warmed a bit so all is wet, not icy. Was out in the country yesterday, where most places were covered with an inch or two. I think it's here to stay. Winters are quite variable here. I've seen some Januarys with not enough snow to cross country ski, and others at -30 with snow piled high everywhere.

Got about a half inch yesterday. Still here this morning, but pretty much gone now.

We have a couple inches of wet snow on the ground as of now...below normal for this time of year. Average in the winter is 3-4 feet at least.

Up here in the BC peace, 2 inches of the stuff, I like it. Last yr we had 2 ft by mid Oct.
Actually if it's going to be winter,let it be winter,-5 to-10 would be perfect,with enough snow to keep the sled heads happy and the kidlets with their tobogans on the hills and out of mommas hair,all good

Keep the posts coming men. It is interesting, and, we may hand out a grape snow cone as a prize to the one with the most snow come May.

Snow and other things.

No snow. I hunted blacktails in the rain all day today, Fraser Valley near Vancouver.

We had a frost one morning last week, first of the year.

I drove up to 3800 feet elevation this afternoon (according to GPS) and there was no snow on the south and west slopes. Looking southward across the valley it appeared that snow was down below 3,500 feet on the north face.

Average is 1-3 inches once or twice per winter, that lasts from a few hours to a few days. Some winters we get no snow and once in ahile we get a foot or more.

We can "visit" snow any day of the year within an hour's drive. We prefer civilized snow that knows it place and stays on the mountain rather than the wet sloppy stuff that gives a bad name to snow when it falls here on the coast.

Some years we get a lot. Some years not so much. Last year we got quite a bit.

Last year early on. The Sportsman has done snow removal duty now for 13 years. Still stroking.

Had a couple of inches on Sunday, melted today as we hit mid 40's F.
Most years we probably average a couple feet but it is so windy it blows around causing serious whiteouts and huge drifts. Bald azz prairie conditions. Last year we had several feet starting in Oct like most of the west, lasted way too long.....

I bought a tractor bucket on front, blade on the back. With a few more $$ I'd get a snowblower for it. 4x4 diesel

Do you use tire chains?
What does it take to fire the diesel up on the cold morning?

And, do your feet get cold?

Betting a pair of 65 below boots, a snowmobile suit and a good engine block heater would make short work of your snow. Nice rig. Wish I could afford one like it. Could use one for lots of stuff in the country. I am envious.

High mountain snow...above 9000' or so...

62* & sunny yesterday even at 6800' where pic was taken..

I don't have chains on it and it seems to be pretty good without them. It has glow plugs and I installed a coolant heater that I keep plugged in all winter, starts up easy down to -35C. [coldest I used it]

I wear pac boots and carhart bib pants...you get some heat off the motor...can't say my feet get all that cold.

On the farm, we used to use canvas windbreakers. One brand was "HeatHouser". They were good into the wind, you nearly froze your fanny off going with the wind.
I cut, and rigged a Westinghouse refrigerator box once on a Ford NAA. That was a one season use.
