Does anyone have a Forbes M20? I thought they were supposed to be available this fall. I have an email into a VP at Forbes and am waiting to hear back. I would like one in 260 Rem with 1:8 twist rifling, but will "settle" for a 7-08 if I must.

I think that they just started production. They had one on their Facebook page Wednesday afternoon.....it was a 308. All CM, not a stainless variation.

Their website recommends IE9 and acts all wonky with my IE8. I can't see their catalog - much. A few blips of single pages occasionally.

I contacted Forbes LLC a few days ago about when the all stainless would be available. Here is Forbes LLC reply.
QUOTE:) The all stainless rifles will be available in the first quarter of 2015, the weight of the M24B (270) will be around 5 1/2 lbs. and the weight of the M20B (7mm08) will be around 4 3/4 lbs. We are currently offering both calibers with a stainless barrel and Mil Spec phosphate action (we don't use hot dip blue oxide). The price of the rifle with a stainless barrel is $1467 and the price of the all stainless is $1499 (both calibers). I have 270's with stainless barrels on the shelf right now ready to ship. Please let me know how I can help with your order.

SA's come w/21" barrels. I talked with Rick a couple of weeks ago and he said they were trying to keep the rifle as light as possible, yet not go so short that velocity would suffer.

I spoke with Rick a couple of weeks ago about the stainless version and he told me that the bolt would be made from CM with the phosphate coating and that it would be fluted as well.

Gee I am in Westbrook almost every weekend in the spring and summer.....wonder if they will do tours to see the rifles being built?
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

I'll pass. Anyone know what length the 6.5x55 or the 35 Whelen come in? Can't really tell on their website. Thanks.

All the Model 24's have 24" barrels.

Thanks John.
Would be a dandy in 6.5x55 IMO...

Actually, I may be wrong. I was going off the prototype .30-06 I tested, which had a 24" barrel, plus the website--which as people have noted, for some damn reason doesn't list barrel lengths. However, if the Model 20 is 38.25" overall (as the website states) with a 21" barrel, it would make sense that the 41.5" overall length of the Model 24's means a 24" barrel.
But my NULA Model 24 .30-06 is 43.5" overall, and has a 24" barrel--as was the prototype Forbes.

I'm thinking a 20B in 6.5 Creedmoor would be fun. Too bad they don't offer any 6.5 in the 20B. Have had an itch for a 6.5 lately.

I'm patient, generally speaking. I'll wait till shortactionsmoker gets bored with his new SA Forbes, then I'll purchase it at a substantial discount and have a new tube screwed on in 250 Savage.
1-9" twist of course.

I just bought a Model 24 in a 270 last month. The barrel is indeed 24 inches and the overall length is close to 44 inches. The catalog is not correct for the overall length.

All right! Now we know.
A 24" Forbes 6.5x55 does sound about ideal.

I'm boring and would be very happy with an 06 or a 308! May need to put one on my next gun list! I just bought an AR10 or I would buy one of the ones on Gunbroker.
Good Shooting!
