Me and a couple guys from work are going in together and buying a set of receiver truing tools from PTG. Our biggest question is with their blueprint tool which cuts the face, lugs and inner diameter all at once, are we likely to have problems with some actions being too deep or too shallow for both faces to cut properly? You will need more tooling to do what you want. I can't see how you can do anything with this tool only.

Opposing faces maybe, but not the lugs.

the tool you are referring to I think only does the action face. you will need a reamer that will ream the threads and cut the lugs, then a tap to true the threads with the bolt centerline. if you have a lathe you don't need the face reamer as you can take a small cut using the tap mandrel held between centers..

I know we'll need the tap as well but we thought this tool cut both the receiver face and the lug faces based on this article http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2009/01/new-gunsmithing-tools-and-rem-bottom-metal-from-ptg/

May just need to call PTG and ask what all we'll need.

You know that when you do this your bolt timing could be off. You may have to remove the bolt handle and reattach in the proper position.

The tool your looking at will do what you need. It does not matter how much you face off the front ring you only take a minimal amount off the front of the lug abutment. I have never ever seen an action where the lugs started cutting before the action front face.

I guess you could cut with the tool until you lose extraction and need the handle moved, but I have not done that on the 50 or more that I done using them.

The tool cuts the tops off the factory threads enough for you to run the oversized tap in.

Take a look at the boltface squaring tools while yall are buying tooling.

I didn't see bushings listed to go with the tool.

Yep you have to have the bushings but I think the OP understands that.

AMEN Too many times I have actions come into our shop that have been trued but won't extract. NOT saying the tools are bad, they will work fine. Just keep in mind the tolerances and geometry of the action. As Butch said, too much cutting and the bolt handle needs to be retimed. I wish I had that tool, as we do all of our action truing with several different cutters on the lathe and only cut minimally as needed. Internal lugs that get cut more than .003 to .004 causes issues. There are alot of caveats in action truing.

Yep you can sure screw up cutting too much.

Thanks for the input gentlemen. We know the bushings will also be needed. We won't cut any more than needed, just enough to square things up. And we plan to buy the whole shebang, piloted tap, bolt face squaring tool, lug lapping tool and a whole pile of PTG recoil lugs.
