458Win;
Thanks for posting the photos of those very fine looking rifles.

For reasons that I can't effectively articulate the Lee sporters have always "done" something for me.

I have handled only one in my life - like the top one in your photo it had a solid rib barrel and was similarly stocked.

The gun dealer I was doing some work for at that time didn't know what it was and I certainly didn't either but we both thought it was cool.

It wasn't until years later when I ran across an article about Frederick Burnham that I remembered handling what I'd assumed at the time was just a Mk III that someone had hot-rodded.

Little did I know.... blush

All the best to you and yours in 2014 and thanks again.

Dwayne

From what I have seen I guess Bell used a Lee Speed on a great number of the elephants he killed as well.

I've never seen a Lee Speed but wanted one for years. Would go well with my NRA sporter, which is a tack driver.

thanks for the pics I was looking for something with the long pistol grip, short forearm, drop at the heel, slender wood, preferably with a drop box magazine.

Very nice! It would be a shame not to hunt that rifle.

Those Imperials are so elegant. The Jeffreys is tops.

He had a matched pair of .303s but frankly I never knew if they were Lee speeds or not. Knowing what little I know about him from his books, I'll bet they were pretty skookum, whatever they were...

Lines look great. Forend could be easily fixed with a rasp and then a barrel band sling swivel.

It has the right only color pad! laugh

That .404 is just about perfect. What a fantastic looking rifle.
