You appear to miss me more than my wife. wink I was out of state hunting last week, didn't get back until Sunday. Took a flyer on this week and plan to be back at it 5am Monday.

I probably have as many posts as anyone on this thread and am probably the most out of shape and and even more certainly the heaviest. Can't decide it that's funny or sad...

Hope the hunting trip went well and glad you're training again. You're doing some great workouts and I enjoy the updates. I need to do a better job posting but I'm just to lazy...

Monday morning:
10 round thai heavy bag

Monday lunch:
Cleans
Squats
Circuit of:
Hang Snatches
Abs
HyperExt

Monday evening was spent getting beat up by a horse. I guess the walk back to the barn (twice!) counts as cardio.

I had a good time, but not 'glory pics' to share as neither my pard or I notched a tag. Thanks for asking.

I like other people to have horses... wink

Finally started the StrongLift 5x5 program last night- squats, bench press, barbell rows, dips and hanging leg lifts. Feeling it today. 45min bike ride this morning and plan to swim after work.

I am WAY late to this and WAY out of shape.

Routine started last week:

3x 1.5mile run per week
Alternate days are core/abs/arms/back (leg lifts, dips, triceps push ups, push ups, crunches)
1x week 10 mile hike with weighted pack.

Sunday was the first hike; 38# out the door including 3L water. Add 5# per week until October 1 (elk trip) or until max weight is hit.

Just added .5 miles to the run. That amount will be added each week until October (should be at 10 miles 3x week by then).

No weight training this year, but after CO/Oct, weights will be added in. 2016 work outs should be acceptable to some comparable on this thread.

I know its a total body thing, but given my schedule, I'll keep doing the jog & run split when I get home from work, and weekends I'll hump the perimeter, increasing load and length until I drop.

Just so long as we don't have to carry your ass out of the mountains, just do what you can. I've had that schedule before (and it's what put me this far out of shape).

No such thing as "to be acceptable" for this thread. Keep posting your progress. I know if really helps keep me on task.

Strength:
Front Squat
3-3-1-1
135-225-245-275

Workout:
Each partner will have 7 rounds of 20 seconds of work time to establish a 1 rep max. Partner 1 will lift first and partner 2 will rest and vice versa for the next 20 seconds.

14 rounds
20 seconds to find a 1 rep max Front Squat
20 seconds rest

Post total pounds lifted as a team.

Pard and I hit 2965#. 20 secs on 20secs off seems like a plenty of time, but it was shorter than I thought considering we had to switch plates every round. I got up to 255# on the workout. My wrists were killing me. Chitty front rack.

Treadmill 30 minutes. 5 of warm up, then intervals up to 6mph. Hip has really come around and with it the knees. Finally after what? 2 years.

Chest/back evolution and finished up with an easy 20 minute cool down on the treadmill.

Treadmill 30min intervals. Upped it and topped out at 8mph this time.

Box jumps, box step-up, weighted and body squats, diamond push-ups, triple tricep pull-downs with decreasing weight x 4 sets each. Lunges and dips x 2 sets.

Going to take the Toby for a walk.

Got back into the gym today, yesterday was an off day. Did upper body. Shoulder is somewhere in the 80-90% range for most stuff. Did just a few pull-ups, it's not quite ready for multiple sets yet.

Impossible, Toby was with me, climbing hills and digging mice. Here he is with my buddy Bill:

We did around 4 miles, I was carrying a 50-something # K-pack, doing some scrambling up the slopes off-trail. Felt good.

On the way down:

Bill again, on the way down, gorgeous day:

Smokepole, Looks like you were scramblimng on Green Mountain. I used to run that quite a bit with the XC kids when I lived on that side of Denver.

Yup, I never really knew about it until this year, I don't live over that way. It has an outstanding trail system but the thing I like is the steep grass-covered slopes. They're good training for a backpack hunt. Gets the heart-rate up!

My once a week wo post. Easier to lift than to post.

Before breakfast:
10 rounds bag work (thai)

Before lunch:
Cleans
Squats
Circuit (1 min rest between rounds/3 rounds):
1. Hang Snatches
2. Lunges
3. Stiff legged DL
4. Abs

I've got to start watching what I eat. 6 pack has turned into a pony keg.
