A titanium Mauser action.... Wonderful!
Until this thread, I had not heard of such a thing. The cost, knowing how expensive titanium is and having heard a bit on how hard it is to work with, does not surprise me in the least.
Best of the best, right there. And I am mighty proud of my FN, BRNO, and other Mauser's. Thanks for sharing it with us.

If they could make that action in SS for the price of a Rem Clone.... THAT would be majorly cool as well. Very few of us need a Titanium action. In fact, I would not want my 416 Rigby to weigh in at one single ounce less than it already does. But to have one in SS, cerrakoted in semi gloss black? With some good wood on it...... perfect. I am thinking the high roller high dollar sheep hunters are going to really dig this titanium Mauser action. All kinds of blueprints to end up with a deadly at long range 5lb sheep rifle.

If they could make that action in SS for the price of a Rem Clone.... With the price of a chromoly one going for $3450, I don't think that will happen anytime soon.

$3450 for a regular Mauser action?? A very nice action for sure, and I was excited about the Titanium version and idea (Even though I cannot afford one) but if one desires a first rate CM steel Mauser, one could have a CZ, FN, a 1917 or Long model 70 Classic all dressed up and tuned and polished to really wonderful proportions and slickness. Obviously there is a market for them and I wish Mr. Satterlee all the success.

Nice, New Guy - I have one of the Father's to your rifle. Taconic 98 Titanium. Born in the mid nineties. Mine has a Lothar Walther match chambered .308 tube. SN 0011.

I believe several years ago that Stuart Satterlie and James Anderson left Dakota and built the Titanium receivers for Taconic. Pictured below is my Satterlie SS receiver set up for 300 Win Mag.

This is true Butch. But it was in the mid to late nineties. Both of those guys had their hands on my gun. Unfortunately, Taconic could not market enough of those mausers and had to go belly up. The business returned back into manufacturing for Rem., Colt , AeroSpace and various other contracts. Colt Defense is their main work orders now. The original owner has since retired and his SIL, Daughter, & Son are running the company.

Butch - always finding good stuff at Estate sales Lol. They are fine works of art, no doubt, just cost prohibitive for many folks.

If they could make that action in SS for the price of a Rem Clone.... doesn't Zavasta make a SS mauser?? For the $3000 dollar difference you can get it nicely tuned. I would love to have a titanium mauser but 6K is a chunk of change.

I bought mine on the other forum from Satterlie. I think he must have been tight on money at the time. I shouldn't have, but I sold it to Roger Vardy, my stock blank wood provider in Australia. It is in the hands of Duane Wiebe at this time.
