I'm looking at an Elk Mountain 13x16 wall tent. Do any of you have experience with them? How's the quality? They have some nice features for the price. They claim they're light weight and durable, not something that always goes hand in hand. Info on them would be great. http://www.elkmountaintents.com/

I've got a Montana Canvas/Cabelas 14x17 with the AL frame. Tough to imagine a better tent. I'm not selling though, just saying aalf's tent is a good one.

When I lived in Alaska we sold a LOT of Montana Canvas tents into the bush. No complaints. Recommend the metal frame as well.

There's probably good reason you've never heard of Elk Mtn Tents.

http://www.walltentshop.com/canvaswalltents.htmcheck out the testimonials on the Wilderness style tents and the prices. Very happy with both of our Wilderness tents from walltentshop- especially the 14 x 16

They claim they're light weight and durable, not something that always goes hand in hand. Info on them would be great. http://www.elkmountaintents.com/ First thing you want to do is call and ask if they actually make the tent. If they don't make them in their own shop in Idaho, run, don't walk away, no matter what they tell you. Imports are junk, plain and simple. Listen to your instincts. You already have doubts, and most likely well founded. Spend the extra from a reputable maker. I got a tent from a buddy who bought one (Montana Canvas?) but never set it up, so it was still in the box when I got it. I set it up in the back yard and noticed the quality wasn't what I'd seen on Sheridan Tent & Awning, Western Canvas Supply, Reliable Tent, or Buckstitch Canvas tents. Zippers on the doors were sewn poorly, the "screen" over the window looked more like medical gauze, the stitching in general was terrible. Come to find out, that POS was made in Pakistan. The first Wyoming wind that came through wrecked it. The only bright side is that I now have a lifetime supply of cleaning patches. If you visit the sites above, you'll note that the prices are pretty close to each other when compared, which is for the canvas only. When you get a frame and canvas for the same price as these outfits charge for canvas, you might really want to consider what you're getting. Leonard at Buckstitch will do you right. Since Elk Mt. states they "provide" tents, I'd suspect they are imports. Your mileage may vary. David

just checked them out they come rite out and say...> "However, in order to provide the highest quality tents with so many extra features at an affordable price, we have our tents made in China." Dang. Missed that until I went back and looked and looked. Don't bother with them.

Well that makes it pretty easy then. I didn't look close enough on the website yet.
I don't want/need a chi-com tent.

I'd snag aalfs. If not look at the specials that Davis runs. That's how I was steered and I do not regret it. At all.

aalf's is a good deal. We just talked on the phone about it. I'm splitting with my BIL, so I need to talk to him. I like Davis, when I called, I actually talked to the owner. He seemed like a no BS cool cat.
