Wow! NICE! I have been using P-Line alot lately on my Pflueger UL reels, 6#, the CX premium, sensitive, low memory, and damned stuff rarely breaks when I get hung up, which is alot.
That's a PIG dude! What model reel do you have? I have heard the rods are so-so. Also, what type of line do you have on there?

The line is regular ol' trilene monofilament. Will have to look at the rod/reel combo to find out details, I bought it as a complete take down kit. MSRP was $100, but on clearance. "heavy duty" (aka POS) gear , but its about perfect for most of the 3/4' to 1 lbers I catch spinning rod/reels are a new thing for me. I was a die hard casting rod/reel user for many years, but at some point there was a backlash on a windy day that pushed me over the edge. I said fuggit, switched to spinning tackle, and haven't missed it

Only thing I feel the bait casters have reel wise over spinning reels is that they seem to generally have smoother drags. Last year I found a place on ebay that was selling Quantum Tour Edition spinning reels at half their original cost. Smooth as silk drags and they feel like they are built like a tank.
Great LM you got there !!!!

Trilene is good stuff, loving the P-Line CX flourocarbon line esp on my little ultra light and light Pfluegers, as it does not twist much at all, vs. the older mono lines that get memory set fast and tangle up.
Quantums are good too RD. No trouble w/my Pfluegers, they make many models. Have a Penn Battle 3000 more for Salt Water Reds, but will easily handle large bass - built tank proof as you say, and smooth as well, would prefer a 1000 or 2000 for most of the freshwater I do, but the bulk is done with Pflueger President or Supreme MG

Great LM you got there !!!! guys, I've been leading ya'll astray ... it's actually Stren 8 lb monofilament. it has definitely gotten to the "memory" stage and getting all kinds of tangled. re: the baitcast reels, I was raised on abu garcias (of course). bought a current model a couple years back and have more backlashes than I ever experienced with the older models. I've tried about every setting possible and just cant get good results.

Go P-line, Suffix, or braid and don't look back...Stren is good stuff, but mono always is worse on memory.
I too was raised on a Swede Abu 5000...reels, all types, better today IMHO.
