Welcome to the campfire, Jiggdog! We talk about the Winchester chamberings off and on quite a bit here, one member has been gathering a list of them to get a feel for how the 32-40/25-35/38-55's are split among the different models and how common in relation to each other. Probably time to find that thread and bring it back up for folks to update.

I have a savage m 1899 b; ser #124xx ; in .303 cal. with a .311 bore with good rifling .All my other .303's have a .308 bore.I have heard the " .311 bores are accidents "theories , etc. . To me there are toomany exactly .311 bores for it to be an accident.True or false ?
I also have a sav m 1899 , ser. # 320xx in 30-30 which has a pistol grip stock with the first style lever (straight as on rifles without pistol grip ).I'm interested to know , approx. how many pistol grip stocks were built with the straight lever? (i.e. are they very common ? )
Sorry for trying to glean information from the experts when I have very little expertise to offer , but that's how we learn.
Thanks in advance

Old friend lent me a G in 300 Savage with an aperture site for some of my marsh hunting this past season, along with a few rounds of ammo. Took a small buck with it. Absolutely a pleasant gun to carry.
When I returned it a few days ago, he gave it to me. I'm kinda speechless. Santa couldn't do better.

I have 3.

2 x 250-3000 (as marked), take down models. One with interrupted thread {1/4 turn} and one with full threads {3 turns}. I've added marble peep sights to both.

1x 99C in .308 Winchester.

I have my Dads 1950 production 99EG in 300 Savage. It is in original shape as when he bought it in 1950.

No Savage Pistols in my collection. As a matter of fact, I no longer own any savage gun that is not an 1895/1899/99.

Oh wait, I have a Fox or two that was made after Savage bought Fox.... guess those count.

Just inherited a 300 Savage model 1899
Serial # 246672 so it looks like it was made in 1923
All original and still in good working order.

Any ideas as to it value?

Possible late 1899A T/D or 99B T/D. Date is in a transition period.
26" or 24"?
Look under Misc. good info for how to post pics. Easier to describe that way.
Value? Condition condition condition, 600-1000+ with exceptions.
