SA WEET rifle there! That looks like a near clone to my 7x57 that I just got back from my gunsmith. The stock colors look much alike, as does the stock shape and other stylizations. Mine has a checkered steel buttplate with widows peak instead of the recoil pad and no scope yet, plus some sort of custom cocking piece mounted safety with a rather small checkered pad to work it up and down. A Safety like I have never yet before seen on any rifle, but it is pretty cool and definately lightweight. I bought my rifle apx 95% finished or so, and had my local guy do the final work. It came back to me just this past Saturday and I am quite pleased, but alas I must sell it. As soon as my semi new Digital camera gets here from Braindead I will take and post some photos of it.

That fella whittles the finest looking stocks I've seen.
Congrats on your rifle.

416 Ruger.

Though there is no rear sight shown, it is a folding peep built into the rear bridge.

My Brno ZKK 600 has that feature. It is now a 30/06, but is likely to become a 9.3x62 in the very near future. Pretty awseome idea, IMO.

Youngest son Tony at age 14 in South Africa. The previously mentioned Walther 7x57 is one that that he just clicked with. He read the rags and books and decided a 1.5-5X Leupold would do. He loaded 160 AB on his own after learning how to choose a powder charge for a particular bullet. When the dust settled there were a bunch of us smiling in camp.

Bucktales,

Those SVEDE'S ( smile ) are wonderful! What great lookers, and stalking/hunting rifles!

Did you convert them from cock on closing to cock on opening? Maybe with the Dayton-Traister kits?

EdM, thanks for sharing the great photos and memories with us. Pretty cool stuff there.

@ safariman,
No, still original, even 2 stage triggers, both of which I have gotten quite used to.

The best I have seen and owned were English Rigby's but I don't think they are worth the money.
