There is an auction locally with some trapping supplies. There is a few namebrands that i am not familiar with and was wondering first are they worth a darn to use or are they worth anything to collect.

Oneida Newhouse variety of sizes- some labeled wolf traps (teethed not legal here so they would lokk good in a man cave or something to start a collection)
Triumph's not sure if this is the brand or model of Onedia
Diamond #4's
Sure Grip #4
Blake and Lamb double spring
Montgomery
Herters
Some pictures show these traps and from teh looks of the pans they look to pretty old as they have raised lettering.

Newhouse 4 1/2's bring really good money.

When I was trapping I had 10-12 dozen Montgomery step in #4's and they were a very good coyote trap. I don't even know if they are still made.

Expect Newhouses to go high. Triumph went out of business about 1930 or so. Condition is everything and there's lots of variables. E-bay will have 10-12 pages of vintage collectable traps just for a quick idea of prices. Good luck if you bid, you might do well.

I had to re-spring all of my Montgomery's after about 5-6 years. I tried a quad spring conversion but the frame didn't hold up to that much tension.

I always base plate them if i'm going to 4coil, even the better built northwoods/bridgers are much improved by a baseplate and D ring.

Just to extend this thread. I'm going sell some of my older traps at the upcoming Tx trapper rendevous. One is a #1 Mascot I will sell for $15. I found an ad from a 1931 catalog and the Mascots sold for $2.59 a dozen new.

I have always wanted a 4 1/2 but good ones seem to go $350 and up. I recently sold a couple of #4 user grade for $30-35. I have a couple stamped Prop. of U.S., Texas and such.

Here is pic of the traps I got, there was a flatbed hay trailer that had traps stacked all the way around it all old. There was a lot of #4 Newhouse community traps in varying conditions some trap designs I never seen before. He had two traps that I forget the name ofbut they had two bars on each side stacked pretty cool stuff.
