I would love to be able to examine the inside of my bores and chambers occasionally but can hardly justify spending the money on the Hawkeye type borescope. I realize they are the best tool for the job but has anyone found an alternative that would give similar results without the high price?

I looked around on eBay and saw some really cheap ones there but the ends of the scope all seem to be 8 to 10 mm in diameter plus I feel doubtful about the quality of something that only cost 30 bucks.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,

twofish

The hawkeye is well worth the money and a quality made piece. I have never regretted buying mine. You will learn a lot with one. I doubt you can buy one for 700 any more tho..

There is a nw product featured in the new "Rifle" magazine that goes for $298.95 that sounds pretty interesting and I may have to pull the trigger on one. According to the write up it's available direct from Innovative Technologies, 1480 Guinevere Dr., Casselberry, Fl, 32707. website, www.larrywillis.com. It uses a flexible fiber optic cable and uses a 2X1.5" LCD screen. No computer interface.

I have no connection to the product and wouldn't know the guy from Adam..just passing on the info.

Just got my Rifle magazine in the mail today and saw that ad. I'm not sure how much clarity you'll get from a 2" by 1.5" wide screen but my hat is off to the guy for selling something that really does only cost about as much as a decent scope. For occasional use to check throats and cleanliness it looks like a good investment.

Here's hoping the guy is successful enough that he can come out with a generation II with maybe a bigger screen or perhaps a USB interface that can be hooked to any laptop or something with a bigger screen. It might even be cheaper since he wouldn't need to supply the screen itself.

Good info. That is what I figured. The Hawkeye sets the standard for a reason.

I am no gunsmith or competitive shooter so it is a little hard to justify just to satisfy my curiosity and verify things occasionally but justification has seldom stopped me before.

Thanks,

If anyone does have a review or personal experience with one of these new flexible borescopes I would love to read it will be directed to it. Thanks to all.
