Heading deep into the Sangres again this year, purshaced a Davis wall tent for trips like this and was looking into a small/low profile lightweight cot to go along with my goosedown sleeping bag, one that breaks down easy...i'm a bigger bodied guy - 6'/225, i know some of these cots i've looked at have weight limits...thanks!!

The GI cot, with a Camprest on top of it, has been my pick for decades.

How light in weight do you want/need the cot to be? Therm-a-rest makes some of the lightest and most compact cots that will meet your weight capacity requirements with ease, but they're also priced accordingly.

Since you're bringing a wall tent, I suspect that you're not counting ounces on this trip. Here are a couple of other options that might also fit the bill...

Cabela's offers one as well (can't get the link to work). It is rated at 225 lbs, though, so you're right on the limit. I have this co and have been pleased with it. I wouldn't use that cot on a backpacking trip, but for your needs it might work quite well.

Acutally, we're on somewhat of a weight limit, i don't want anything over 8-10 lbs.

The Cabela's cot is the heaviest of the three, at 10.5 lbs.

Roll-a-cot. I believe the standard model is under 10 lbs. A comfortable cot that you can adjust the tension on.

Might want to try elk forums for more hits. Backpacking and cots don't usually come together. When I'm near the truck the Slumberjack Big Cot is close by. For lighter and smaller take a look at the Luxurylite cot.

I have used a Luxurylite cot (now ThermaRest Ultralite cot) on several hunts last year including an elk hunt in CO. The cot packs small and is easy to put together. It keeps you about 4 inches off the ground. The large version weighs in at 2.4 lbs and supports up to 325 lbs. Very comfortable cots.

Quick Overview

These are the lightest most technically advanced cots on the market. If sleep is important to you on a hunt make sure to pack this ultralight cot. Made of UV resistant, waterproof material this durable cot will make a rock field more comfortable than a day at the Mattress Ranch. All hand made right here in the USA and weighing in at 2.12 oz, these cots make a great addition to any hunt that can afford to shed a few pounds. Strong enough to hold 300 pounds.
