After ten years of not hunting elk, I finally drew the tag of all tags.... Arizona unit 9 September archery bull elk.... out of thousands of applicants, I got tag #49/100!!

I'll probably end up trading my bowtech for a Mathews DXT... but the real question is what broadhead?

I have several buddies who swear by the swhacker, all with on game performance. Me, personally I think bull elk demand a fixed blade... wac'em, muzzy, shuttle t, slick trick etc.

Is there a majority consensus here? Pictures to go with thoughts/opinions would be amazing!

I've killed several bulls with Muzzy 90 gr 4 bladers - I see no reason to change what works.

Casey, I'd be picking up some 125gr Shuttle T's. They're what my Dad and I use and they seem to work really well so far (for him, I haven't killed an elk with them.)

Congrats, sounds like an awesome opportunity.

Tanner,

I had some of Them laying around... I'll have to dig them up. A buddy had killed two nice bulls with them to and he liked the performance.

Man, unit 9...Congrats!

I hunted 7E about a dozen years ago and have been collecting points since then. Hoping to draw 8, 9, 10, or 27 in a few years.

Good luck!

Wrongwayv you really need to go [bleep] yourself. I know exactly what to do. In case you don't know how to read, I was asking for people's experiences on broad heads. Not all of us can draw (lie) about drawing the rifle tag two years in a row you lying pos.

I've used wac'ems the most and have been happy with them.Last years bull was killed with a 3 blade muzzy, worked well too.

The No Limit Archery Grave Digger COC would be my first choice. Also add that changing broadhead weight involves more than just screwing one on and going hunting. Adding weight to the front of an arrow will weaken the overall dynamic spine of your arrow and could have ill effects on the tune of the bow. If I were elk hunting, id want absolutely true broadhead flight out to 60 or 70 yds. That only comes from a perfectly tuned bow.

Our group kills multiple elk every year with Slick tricks and to a lesser extent wac'ems... there's just no question about a slick trick.

This. ^^^. It's the fastest killing head I ever used and may have saved my life after a black bear got raunchy with me. It made 15 of 30 or so yards to me before rolling over from a complete pass through.
