The guy in the article seemed to like the penetration of the Barnes, but thinks the AB makes a bigger wound channel at distance....and gives more audible "whop!" on lung hits. Likes the fragmentation of the AB, too. Then wraps it up by thinking out loud that the Partition with a plastic tip (and boat tail?)might be "perfect". Goes to show, it's hard to have everything in one bullet;and these conversations are hard to have without taking bullet construction and impact velocity into consideration.Few things are perfect.
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

Bob: Isn't the AB supposed to be (or act like) a Partition with a plastic tip and a BT?

southtexas, that's what they say....really seems like it with the heavy ones, but more frontal area than a Partition from the one's I have seen recovered. But I'm still shooting those Partitions into things so might not be the right one to ask.

You have not listed a bad choice. 140gr AB, 110gr TTSX, 130gr TTSX.
Have not used a LRX, but cannot imagine it not doing the job, IF you do yours.
If you feel like playing with a new bullet, go ahead. Truly spliting hairs.
I/we have killed critters with 85gr TSX through 160gr NP. It is more difficult to find a bullet that will not work in a 270 than one that will.

If Nosler made a boat tail, high BC partition with a plastic tip they would sell a ton.

ABLR on the outside, Partition on the inside? That's like peanut m&m's.

I have started playing with the .224 & .243 calibers and shooting some of the Barnes bullets! They shoot really well in my 223AI (62 TTSX) I suppose the mono metals can really help in these smaller calibers, IF one is shooting thru shoulders.
However, I have shot way to many animals for more years than I care to admit with the so called old time soft bullet designs like a partition and yes the newer AB's to know that they do a great job at KILLING!
And that is exactly what I am trying to accomplish. So I choose to not fix that which is not broken.

The thing I like about the barnes is the expansion/speed rate compared to the E-tip or the GMX bullets... I have had nothing but good luck with TTSX in all the calibers I have ever tried them in... My .280AI dumped a mulie in WY this year at 615 and went through double lung and was bleeding excellent, not knowing 100% how much damage the first shot had done, and he was just standing there. I sent a second shot at 598 and took both shoulders out and found the bullet just sticking through the skin as we quartered him out on the top of the mountain... The bullet was a 140TTSX running 3280 and opened up 85-90 percent and held 139.6grs of weight after I got it cleaned up and back to the bench scale.... LOVE my barnes!!!
