My father has given me his 30-30 purchased around 1967-68 from our local Bi-Mart. It is in excellent mechanical condition with the usual wear (no rust, rifling remains pristine)from a rifle that has killed blacktail, mulies, the occasional elk, and one speed goat. I'm thinking of an AI to it...Should I? And Dad doesn't care.

Thanks in advance

Charlie

I wouldn't but that's just me. Don't think you would gain enough to make a difference and feeding might be a problem.

I agree with Websterparish. The 30-30 is good as it was meant to be.

chas, no need to tell you this I'm sure, but you live in Gods Country. Killed many blacktails and a few bears there, including my biggest of both. Just seeing the name stirs my soul...

You can AI it your self.Rent a reamer and you put it on an extension and do it right through the action.Takes about ten minutes. No problems with feeding.I have done 10 336s like this with no problems.Gains?? 50 -150 FPS depending on bullet used.
