I seem to recall reading that this rifle/chambering combo has a pretty strong following, but that they can be a bit tough to find. I found a used one today and am curious just how unusual this gun is. I'm a bit tempted by it.

Grice Wholesale has had runs made of them before, maybe even several times before, in various chamberings. No doubt a lot of the .35s got rechambered to .358, too. They aren't RARE, but less common than .30/06, .308, etc.
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.

I've owned a couple over the yrs. They will take surprisingly heavy loads, are quite accurate and handle very well.
Not much not to like.

I have owned a few 760's in .35 which shot very well. I handled a 760 .35 in Cabelas in West Virginia last Thanksgiving that had not been drilled or tapped an 98% condition. It was tempting except for the ridiculous asking price of $850.00. One just sold in like condition on Gunbroker two weeks before for $625.00.
Buy it...you will enjoy it. The 760 rifles will shoot 1 inch groups with out much effort.

Have one that I use with open sights on deer in the thick stuff. You can usually find some in good shape on gunbroker also. If it's a good price, get it. 35s hit hard when used within range depending on which 35. The 35 rem is probably best at 150 yds or less, but I'm sure some have killed stuff farther. Would make a good hog gun as well I would expect, as I never shot a hog.

I like 760's. The triggers suck azz though.

Years ago, I was stationed with USAF in Michigan. I bought an older model 141 in 35 Remington which matched my hunting style quite nicely. The 141 preceded the model 760 but it was accurate and fast handling. Four deer in two years were downed with four shots fired. That heavy 200 grain soft tip hits hard!But I sold the rifle when I rec'd orders to Okinawa. So it goes.

Had 760 in .35 with a lyman 2.5x with a post reticle. GREAT woods rifle. Very accurate with 200 gr. sierras and IMR 3031. Didn't like the forend rattle, though. Killed 1 deer from directly above, and could've stuck my head in the exit wound on its chest. Very decisive round.

Thanks for the replies, fellas. Speaking of Rem 141's, there was a decent looking one in .30 Rem sitting on the rack right next to the 760.
While the 760 in .35 would be nice to own, with my current line up of rifles and only a 2 week deer season, part of which I end up working, I can't see the point of adding another rifle to the line up only to have it ride the bench. I left it behind at the gunshop for the next guy to buy.
