ah, I believe someone did offer, very kindly, mind you, to assist you in that operation, but you chose to decline the very generous offer.
Having a "hamm" experience probably means peeing 20 times between new mexico and denver.

Thankfully all the lead I brought was deposited in the hill by a bunch of folks. The car didn't sag nearly as bad on the way home. grin

we all are a bunch of stupids. AS anyone heard of Elfego Baca?
Friend to Billy the Kid and Villa? Well, at least for a while with Villa? And the siege of Frisco, where he stood off, by himself, about 80 texicans, that fired over 4000 rounds at him not hitting him once?

I had heard of the battle, but didn't know that frisco, is now called reserve, New Mexico, and was about 40 miles from where we were at. Have to go there.

Wasn't there a Disney movie made about the shoot out? I seem to remember it.

Lots of Bacas up here in Catron County.

Down the road, in Reserve, there is a nice monument to Elfego Baca, commemorating the event. Depicts Baca in a jacal firing a handgun, and a plaque gives some of the historical data.

The Cabela's here had one of Elfego Baca's revolvers in the gun library when they opened. It had a letter with it from Elfego Baca stating that it was his gun, and how he had used to kill a man on an El Paso street during his time as a lawyer and the year it all occurred.

As I recall it was double action .41 Colt

Sure wishing I could have gone to Quemado this year... Alas, I'll see everyone this winter in Arizona.
