If I were a gamblin' man my money would be on the "yes" square, seeing as though the 1899 250-3000 seems to be the topic for discussion.

Maybe we need a definition of what is considered a ramp front sight - I would not call these 'ramp'. The brochure refers to this type front sight as 'intergral'.

They must be perfectly legitimate straight from the factory guns.

Cause they wouldn't be worth very much to the owners or prospective buyers if they weren't

Would they...

Every picture and every add of a 250-3000 on this thread shows a integral front sight. Right.

Raised ramp front sights did not appear until 27/28. 7 or 8 years after the perch belly 250's went out of production.

So what does that make a perch belly 250-3000 with a raised ramp ramp front sight on the barrel?

Bogus without a letter.

Yes Sqweeler:

That is a very, very nice gun. In fact it's beautiful.

Do you have any information or insight that might add to the discussion or conversation?

I do not have a 1899 250-3000. Although I am a big fan of that particular model.

Still waiting for the right one to present itself at a reasonable price. The fact that I don't own one doesn't mean I am going to settle for one that ain't right. Patience in this game is a virtue.

Guaranteed mine will have integral front sights...

I'd even settle for a nice early G

Call me fussy.

I have several 99's in 250-3000. Not sure there is such a thing as a "bad one" and I don't really care what sights they have. I just like-em all.

I like the the 1899 250-3000 rifles quite a bit. I think it's neat that Savage designed that particular rifle to introduce that caliber. I enjoy shooting mine and I'm always looking to add a second one in nicer condition.

Personally, I can't wait to see it propped up against a dead deer and LBK posing beside it with blood puddling in the snow around them! grin

It won't be this year. This year it's the one beside it with the Stith set-up. Course I "could" take them both. grin grin
