I have a question.. I solo hunt out of a Go Lite SL3 with a homemade roll up wood stove, and this year I am going to hunt later in the season and higher in elevation than years past. I will probably encounter snow this upcoming season. I usually use a 30 x 72 plastic sheet under my sleeping pad on bare ground. What do you guys do when you have to set up on top of the snow for sleep platform, tent floor, you know what I mean. Thanks in advance.

I just use plastic or tyvek. Pack the snow down good first.

Be aware that some fabrics/plastics are slicker than snot on snow. You might spend all your time on your knees...or butt.

Okhill: I would make EVERY effort to remove ALL the snow below your tent/ground cloth/floor liner.
Been there done that - know the consequences!
IF... you are only talking about 30"x72" then the effort it takes to clear that small an area will be well spent.
Our current back country tent is 12'x20'!
And it never gets set up on snow.
I would hump along with you a small light weight plastic garden type hand shovel to aid in snow clearing.

In an SL3 he won't be spending any time on his feet, so that is a safe assumption.

With a stove, I would whole-heartedly agree with VarmintGuy. Been my experience that condensation is a bugger if you melt snow every time you light the stove and the mush around the stove grows each time.

In really mushy conditions one of these bath-tub ground sheets look worthwhile
