What speeds are you getting with the 105's? What makes the Creed a better case than a 243?

That last load I worked up is 3070fps. I'm happy with that with a 22" barrel. My other bolt rifle in 6 Creed gets 3100fps with .2grs less powder from a 26" barrel.

You can drive the same bullets a bit faster with a standard .243, but in my opinion, the Creedmoor case is a better design for short actions and shooting longer bullets.

Load development is complete...to my pleasant suprise, as the round count approached 200, my velocity had increased almost 80fps. My last 6MM Bartlein barrel did the same thing after a couple hundred rounds and has maintained the same velocity with 1800 rounds downrange. Both rifles are getting 3100fps with 105gr Hybrids. Happy to be able to use the same dope for both rifles.

Card on the mag is meters/mils, with a 180 meter zero.

Pat I wonder if its a 5R trait or maybe the way the throat was cut that gives the higher velocity after breakin....

You could be on to something with the 5R....

I skipped the barrel break in routine, per usual, but ran a couple patches through it after 100 rounds or so. There was zero copper, and the powder came out after five or six patches. I don't spend much $ on barrel cleaning supplies.....grin!

Nice! Both chambers cut with the same reamer? Nice to be able to swap brass around as well without FL'ing or bumping shoulders.

I have a 6mm 8twist tube that is soon to be installed. The Creed sounds great, but I already have a bunch of 243 lapua brass.

Pat,

Are you happy with the 22" barrel in conjunction with the can? Or would you go a little shorter when you re-barrel?

RL 17 sucked for me, I thought I had a great load 3/4" at 200 yards, I went to test it at 575 yards and that "great load" turned into over 5" of vertical even worse is it was either 1 high and 2 low or the other way around. Basically a miss everytime on a coyote at that range. switched to 4831 sc and vertical went to less than 2" and sometimes as little as .75 accuracy went up to sub .5 at 200 yards. I saw pretty big swings in temp sensitivity as well It was nothing to see 100 fps

I'd be fine threading it on and leaving it as well. If I can get by without the quick detach, I will.

22LR can is next...

Pat,

That pretty much describes the Bartlein barrel on my 260. Hit it twice with wipeout and I was done!

One of the deputies on my shift had a Ruger 10-22 with an integral suppressor. All you could hear was the bolt cycling. I would have loved to have had the money to get one, but the wife and I and my kids had developed a nasty habit of eating regularly. Food or rifle...food or rifle...food or rifle...? It was touch and go for a while there but I decided we should stick with the food.
