We brought home the tractor instead of the 4 wheeler. Also brought home some logs which we will use to skid our storage shed to a new spot.

We took black betty and an empty trailer.

There was a lot more snow in some spots than we expected. So, we walked in to the cabin

Great shot!!

We got the bbq grill out in the bucket of the tractor, made another trip back in for these logs, then loaded up and went home. Great day.

Thanks Gopher, back at you!

For us, It's a grilled/smoked whole chicken tonight, a grilled/smokes pork roast (pulled pork) tomorrow....

And a warmed up boring ole ham on Sunday.

Lol.

I really missed having my grill all winter.

Well done! Those pics are a sight for sore eyes after this winter. Especially like the new marksman in the family!

My buddy from 30 years of deer camp had a brain tumor removed this morning. Only 42. Been hunting with him since he was Preacher's age. Prognosis is very good, Docs are very optimistic. It's a blessing...we couldn't have asked for better news.

Every day is a gift.

Happy Easter everyone.

That is great news Steve! Not to many get such an optomistic prognosis with that. Happy Easter to you as well!

Dave,
Do you take the battery out of that tractor and bring it home for winter or does it just start every spring?

This little tractor, we purchased it new in 07. I've never had the battery out. It always starts, 7 yr old battery.

Charliefoxtrot, that's great news about your friend!

I got my tractor running today and bladed the driveway. As usual, I had to clean every dang connection on the thing to get it to fire. Stupid 6 volt system is so finicky. I really need to convert it to 12v.

Good to see the camp again. Hope ours came through ok too. It will be awhile before we can get back into it.

Is the tractor a diesel, Dave?

Rooster, What kind and year tractor do you have? Must be an older one if it's a 6 volt.

6 volt? I would guess that it's a Ford 8N or 9N.

CFT, good news on your hunting buddy.

Happy Easter, All.

It is a IH240 Utility tractor. Not very commmon around here. They were more common on the east coast where mine came from. It is rated at 32 hp and was only made from '58 - '62.

It's here! Finally!!! Spring has arrived!!!

Maple tree buds are opening, grass has greened up, daffodils are in full bloom and the flower beds are full of grape hyacinths!

Of course the planned trip to Camp Mental Floss was delayed until this coming week by freezing temps and 30mph winds. Crappie fishing this year is looking, well...........crappy! sick

I'm optimistic, I reserved a power rake/thatcher for Tuesday.

SIL and GD both got turkeys this evening.

Bill,
Good luck with that thatcher rental. The way this weather has been this year I give you 50/50 odds on using it Tuesday.

My local crappie lake has suffered a severe winter kill of gizzard shad. Lake shore is carpeted with 6"-10" shad slowly ripening in the sunshine. Gulls, terns, ospreys, eagles, crows and buzzards are all feasting on the carcasses. Smell can be overpowering! I"m worried what the lake by our cabin looks like. It also tends to experience shad winter kill when lake completely freezes, as it did this year. The last time this happened our chocolate lab loved eating the sun-dried carcasses every time we left him out on shore to run around. Some of the stuff he has dragged back to the boat over the years would gag a maggot!

Lakes in central WI are just starting to open. I'm sure some of them are going to have some winter kill, especially the shallow ones.

Very unlikely that most of the Northern lakes will be open for the May 3rd opener.
