Butch,
If you don't mind I can provide a link to this thread over on Lee Martin's Single Actions forum and I suspect someone there will have a need.

Not a problem ED. I sold all the factory Herters ammo a couple years ago. Couldn't figure out why the guy didn't want the brass that I had. Said he didn't reload, but what was he going to do after he shot up what he bought from me?

Excuse me but I believe it is the 401 'Powermag'; will shoot through an engine block, while the 44 mag won't... or some such statement, those Herter ads really appealed to me when I was a kid, It's a wonder I never bought one back then.
Bob, How does the 401 compare to the 41 mag case wise and ballistics?

In 2009 my brother made his own 401 dies when someone died and he got a six shooter. I told him we could reload with my Lee 40sw/10mm carbide sizer die. He said his blood pressure hit an all time high. I have not talked to him about it since. I don't believe he ever found the right brass, and so would be using 30-30 or 41 mag brass.... if he ever did shoot it.
